    Hi, @Ron STL I think this scroll-like motif is called kake-mamori (A traveler's HANGING AMULET BOX). Therefore, although the description of origami says a scroll, this is a kake-mamori (掛守)and not a scroll. https://www.gardnermuseum.org/experience/collection/11663

    Hi, Is a horse carved on the Kozuka? This poem is a Haiku-poem. 水音に馬のあゆまぬ暑さかな "mizu oto ni uma no ayumanu atsusa kana" Meaning : It's so hot, even the horse listening to the sound of the water stop walking.
