  1. I see what your saying Stephen, its not easy to pick up in the photos but I think your right. I have a sword with the same sanded look on the nakago. The pic of the nakago half way down on the far right shows the area best. Octaviano it would help you and everyone if you did introduce yourself. People prefer to know who they are buying from especially when spending thousands. Greg
  2. Reminded me of the westerner made ninjutsu in the 80,s. I was waiting for him to catch the blade like in the ninja movies Sho Kosugi style. Ha Greg
  3. Thats a great piece to own, very cool. Greg
  4. All good arguments and opinions but Im kinda on the fence with this one. I feel like Nihonto is only fully traditionally made blades with tamahagane but then I think it really doesnt matter what us westerners think as it really comes down to what the Japanese think/decide. Greg
  5. I hope someone doesn't use this to kill a person and try to blame the sword and use the sale page as evidence. Greg
  6. Excellent blade to study at that price Ray. Anyone looking for a first blade or someone on a budget would be silly to miss this. Greg
  7. A lot of uchiko all over the blade and habaki. Its a nice looking sword, whats under the wrap instead of same? Greg
  8. Nice example with beautiful koshirae im sure Stephen would like Axel. Greg
  9. I hope you get there in the near future Jeremiah, i look forward to seeing the set. Greg
  10. Well done on your first nihonto Julien, excellent starter. Greg
  11. Condolences to his friends and family. Greg
  12. My best sword moments are when I get to travel south to see my dear mate Bazza. Im truly lucky to have met him here on this greatforum. Last year I had a very special weekend with Baz and also a meeting at a gallery with him and some other great Nmb members and got to look at some beautiful items and had a nice time. Cant wait to make time for the next trip. Greg
  13. What Ken said +100 Greg
  14. Tom please explain? Greg
  15. Ken ive watched a lot of their videos in the past and I completely agree that there is much skill but a little too much flashy stuff. Some of the flashy stuff used on youtube reminds me more of chinese kung-fu movie stuff than something I would imagine Samurai using. My sensei alows only iaito at this stage but my previous sensei alowed shinken occasionally. I would never be silly enough to use Nihonto, only repro shinken if ever but it only takes a very small mistake to cause big damage. Greg

Ian is simply saying he has seen the armor that this peice belongs to and he is refering to the rabit on the neck peice. Greg
  17. I kinda wish you got it back and sell it to someone you know will appreciate it and not ruin it. He doesnt deserve real Nihonto imho. Greg
  18. Im not %100 Steve, just going by first impressions. Greg
  19. Steve I think its a handachi? Greg
  20. Hi Kenny is 7.55mm between 2 seppa? Greg
  21. Very nice collection Jeremiah. Would love some tsuba close ups and to see the blades with a little info. I think Stephens tsuba would look good in any collection. Greg
  22. Congratulations Bruce. Im not into military swords but thats a very cool present. Nice bohi. Greg
  23. Nice score Dean. Unlikely a pro would go that far on a nakago. Red rust removal is important but so is preservation of patina. Greg
  24. As you mention most experienced people here are against amateur polishing they are also against using nihonto to practice with. Its all about preserving as it should be. Just my opinion. Greg
