  1. It would be nice to see someone save this one and have it polished by a pro. Greg
  2. Facts and fundamentals of Japanese swords and the art of the Japanese sword by Kapp and Yoshihara are a must have for beginners. Connoisseurs is cheap on ebay at the moment, last I saw it was $98 Australian dollars. Not many years ago it was around $300 if I remember correctly. Greg
  3. Out of curiosity are you getting a saya and tsuka professionally made for this beautiful beast of a blade? Greg
  4. Lovely shinsakuto Charles, they make beautiful swords with there own tamahagane. Greg

    Sickening

Some people should not be alowed to have kids just like some idiots should not be alowed to own swords. More money than brains unfortunately. Greg
  6. Ray you've really captured that beautiful hada. Any more youtube vids coming up? Greg
  7. John take a deep breath and think about this. Youve done a home polish job that to you looks good but to others looks like a classic car painted with house paint and you expect us to pat you on the back. You asked for opinions and when you got the truth you spat the dummy. I say man up and take some good advice here if not for yourself do it out of respect for the smith that put so much work into the blade. If you take time to learn more about Nihonto you will understand and respect whats been said here. Greg
  8. Very nice. Greg

  12. Agreed Stephen, surely others cant beleive being a sword made in Japan is all it takes to be considered Nihonto. Anyway I wont beat the horse any longer haha. Greg
  13. Hi Piers I like your tanto in the "before shots" I reckon you should give "after shots" a go. Greg
  14. Earlier in this thread it was said that any sword made in Japan should be considered Nihonto, I have a lovely Japanese made iaito with aluminum blade that is high quality but surely this insnt considered Nihonto. Greg
  15. Ever since I first got the art of the Japanese sword book Yoshindo Yoshihara is a smith I'd love to have a sword by and hard not to mention Gassan Sadatoshi for that famous hada. Greg
  16. Impressive indeed, an extremely cool blade to own. Greg
  17. To me post war/ shinsakuto are nihonto as much as pre war. Just not antique or held by samurai but pure nihonto. Greg
  18. Hi Tim thanks very much for your efforts. Ive wanted to get the translation of 2015 and 2017 I only have 4 catalogs so im lucky to have these two. Cheers. Greg

  23. Maybe a few close ups of the area Octaviano. There seems to be a patch of patina/rust that different to the rest in your pics. I have a sword with the same thing. Greg
  24. Hi Octaviano welcome. Im sure you understand people being a little uncomfortable with out at least an intro. I like some anime like samurai champloo, hakuoki and a few other Samurai anime but not so much dragon ball z. Cheers. Greg
