  1. Lol I feel ya on that one One of the good things about it for me is I never have to buy another cardboard shipping box or packing supplies ever again!
  2. Hello all. Hope all is well with everyone So boredom has crept upon me once again and I'm trying to put a name to this style of Hamon. I've gone through all the typical answers but none quite fit. One side has a gunome/notare style and the other seems to want to be some kind of Gunome/Uma no ha midare with ashi? I really cant tell I've included 2 extra pics of the Omote side of this wakizashi to show how the "gunome hills" actually form almost complete circles but resembles horns that almost touch in the middle/top. Its vague but if you look close and compare the two pics you can see it and it is only done on one side. I was hoping for some constructive criticism? EDIT:The pics didn't upload in order but there are 2 pics for Omote side and 2 pics for Ura side and then the 2 other pics (different colors) of just the Hamon for the Omote side. Each pic (of the 4 for the full blade) represents one half of the cutting edge, basically top and bottom.
  3. Do you have more pics of entire blade?
  4. Is it real? That's Not something you see everyday! Really cool! How'd you come across it if I may ask? Is it heavy?
  5. I shipped a tsuba to Germany from California about a year ago. It took less than 3 days to get to Germany and then it disappeared in German customs for over a month then it was delivered out of the blue roughly a month and a half after it arrived in Germany
  6. If it was "added" at a later date it's a very good job I too would like to see more pics!
  7. Offer declined... Oh well, its probably better I spend my stimulus payment in this country anyways haha
  8. I had a "Great Wave" from Paul Chen and it was pretty awesome. The Nakago was signed with yasurime and in the image of a typical Nihonto. The blade was actually quite sharp as well. The Tsuka and saya were real wood and all the other fittings were really nice and made from quality metal as well. Overall it was a really made sword. It wasn't forged with a real hamon tho but it would cut anything no problem.
  9. Wow! Great price! Surprised it hasn't sold yet
  10. I love it! Amazingly simple yet beautiful!
  11. I've bought a few eBay swords in my day and the trick is to find sellers who buy in bulk or are constantly buying to resell on the international market for a quick flip. Most times those types of Japanese sellers don't really know the in and out of kantei and are just interested in the quick profit. They don't really know what they have other than the basics and they usually get their items for cheap and flip them for cheap. But sometimes they will try and sell a papered blade for a huge sum. If you try buying from the sellers who are knowledgeable about paper and kantei, most of the time you'll be paying above retail or the exact value of the sword. Also, you'll find allot of lower end papered swords through these other types of sellers. They know what they have and want the money for it. I've been buying from eBay for roughly 5 to 7 years now and in that time I've resold multiple blades for a small profit. Also I've found a few blades that are actually in great shape but those are few and far between. The number of "great" blades I've found over the years is maybe 3 and I found 2 of those back to back within a week. So in 5 to 7 years of eBay surfing, I've found 3 blades worth keeping for a price tag of under 400$ to 500$. You just have to be patient and know what you're looking for and then pull the trigger and hope for the best. A little luck helps too. Oover all, its rare to find a really great blade on eBay for a good price
  12. I made an offer. Hopefully seller accepted Another thing. It looks like the Bohi isn't original and maybe added during the O-suriage process? Otherwise it looks to be either a very short original bohi/sword to begin with or the sword is ubu(not likely). I say this because the patina/rust on bottom of the bohi is same color as the rest of the Nakago. Plus it doesn't go far down enough to be part of the original smithing unless the sword was short to begin with or the bohi stopped short of the original Nakago. Am I making sense? I'm just making an observation
  13. Dang! Ford made that look easy! Gotta love copper!
  14. Did someone try cleaning it or buffing it at one point? It looks like a nice little yari under there. The bottom of Nakago is bent a bit which could be a sign of breaking? Battle damage? Regular damage from being stuck and forcefully removed? Over all it looks like a nice out of polish entry level yari with some minor issues. Can't vouch for authenticity but 350$ isn't a bad price at all.
  15. Man that thing looks mean! It's amazing how they can make such good welds without modern equipment
  16. Jussi that was a ton of info on Nihonto in one place! Probably one of if not the best write ups with pictures I've seen! I found swords and websites I've never seen before! Thanks for that!
  17. Wow never seen anything like that but petty cool! Definitely a stabber
  18. Yes I think having a paper can add quite a bit of value to a sword for many people. Especially if it's mumei and attributed to a really good school. Having a paper on a mumei blade takes the guess work out of it so when a person is looking to buy they feel more confident with the papered attribution. For the most part I would say with new collectors. Whereas with signed blades a seasoned collector can usually run the comparisons on a signed Nihonto and tell if it's legit or not, so in cases with signed swords WITHOUT paper, they can go for allot of money still if the right collector finds it but at the same time having a paper on a signed blade is very beneficial for the same reasons above. But none of that should stop a person from buying a blade they truly love, with or without papers. But then again, it costs allot of time and money to send a sword too shinsa so over all the paper is a good thing and adds value with each Nihonto varying in price. That's my opinion anyways
  19. lol I didnt even notice the habaki! Above and betyond!
  20. I know, I was being sarcastic and making a funny Im so broke I might not even be able to pay my bills next month!
  21. Still for sale! Im so tempted to buy it! I just sold one of my Nihonto and have enough but should I pay my bills first? Or buy another sword?
