  1. I believe there is a section on Haruta in the book, 'Tsuba - An Aesthetic Study'. I no longer have a copy but perhaps some else here does so perhaps they can verify and respond. BTW - that is a Fittings Museum Paper and is considered generally to be desirable. PS: It is available for sale here: http://www.ncjsc.org/ncjsc_publications.htm
  2. (Mitsutoshi) OK - looked this maker up in, 'Studies in Kyo Goto', 1988 and according to them there were no known examples of Kanjo's work at time of publication therefore no mei to reference. Listed also in Haynes - 02638 - but no references to signed examples. Apparently, he married the third daughter of Goto Tokujo, fifth mainline Shirobei master and that he also became the adopted son of Goto Kenjo, seventh Shirobei master who was Tokujo's son so his work would by association have to be high end. To me this tsuba does not reflect 'Goto' craftsmanship so most likely gimei/later work. https://www.japaneseswordbooksandtsuba.com/store/books/b640-studies-kyo-goto-kasahara-koju-%26-akimoto-shigeo
  3. On top of what was just mentioned the average age of the majority of participants is 50+ so you do the math. I'm not into crap shoots with my health.
  4. Hey! Thanks much. It's unusual (at least to me) to see one like this. Something new every day, what? Hope all is well, Pete
  5. So, Barrie - is the paper white, green, Hozon etc..?
  6. You are most welcome, Peter. Happy to be of assistance.
  7. I agree with Steve W. but strongly add Shimizu Jinbei and 'early' Jingo generations.
  8. PERFECT!!! Thank you very much, Ian! This is the one I bought from Jean last year: It's mumei so that attribution will help with the school. PS: this is an example of where a paper would be a waste of time/money/effort. It is obviously from this school so investing another $300+ would not increase it's value enough to be worthwhile. Paper would probably come back 'den Shigeyoshi' anyway. Woo-hoo!!! lol
  9. Hi - If anyone has this recent book I would appreciate a picture/scan of the page shown. I have a similar tsuba from Jean and would like to see the attribution/description. Thanks much!
  10. 'Shhh - My Lord -- He is no Un-no Sho-min'....
  11. It would probably be best to just stay in Manhattan as going to Newark will be time consuming and unless there is something specific you want to see probably not worth it. Suffice it to say there's a lot to do just in Manhattan.
  12. Here is the New York Token Kai webpage: http://www.ny-tokenkai.org/ It hasn't been updated yet but their next meeting is February 23rd, 2020. I just spoke with the president of the club to confirm.
  13. I wonder how many people here recognize that 'Twilight Zone' prompt?
  14. https://www.tsuruginoya.com/items/f00205.html I knew I had seen one here some time ago.

    Kodai

後代 = Kodai - progeny, later generations. From Hozon origami: Mumei Kodai Higo Mumei Kodai Yagyu You will also run across this denoting era time: Mumie Owari (Edo Shoki) Shoki = early times, Chuki = middle times, Goki = later times. ('Go = Ko' pronounciation). (I unfortunately do not have pictures for 'chuki' or 'goki').
  18. My deepest condolences to his family, both immediate and extended. RIP young man, you touched so many lives.
  19. Sorry, but 'SUPERLATIVE'! That tsuba is Tokubetsu Juyo BTW.
  20. Clouds of Fuji san - Haruaki Hogan:
  21. Stephen - not swordsmith - tsuba shi. Fittings makers can achieve mukansa also. Here is another example: https://www.tsuruginoya.com/mn1_3/b00144.html

  24. USPS 'Priority Express' is simply their name for EMS service. It was until recently referred to as 'Express' mail. It's all part of EMS which is a world wide service using the same thirteen letter/numeric tracking. Global Express Guaranteed is a separate service which aligns with Fedex and has it's own rules and restrictions: This is for USA: https://www.usps.com/international/gxg.htm
