  1. Looks like a standard San Mai awase -the layer tsuba. The rim holds the layers together.
  2. Thanks Ian for sharing this wonderful journey and story.
  3. Jussi can you please translate this part of the labels of the picture? Thanks!
  4. Sure does! Thanks Ed.
  5. Welcome Johan, Stephane and Richard! Take your time going through the FAQ and reading some threads. The search function should get you to what might interest you. Feel free to ask questions. We have a friendly helpful place here.
  6. Hi Ed: Can you please post an image of the first habaki without the fuchi sitting on it? I have not seen that design before.

    Spare Change?

I am impressed by the work of Radovan Stofcik.
  8. Thanks Peter. I am looking for Aito 1979 #7. He has number 6. I wrote to ask if he has #7. If you come across it please let me know.
  9. That is one of the best pieces of advice aslo collectors should take to heart.
  10. Hi Bob: I just took a photo of a myochin wakizashi tsuba. It too has a glossy finish. I didn't remember that it did.
  11. Is the Mimi iron? I can't tell what type of metal it is. Do you think that it was added to the tsuba after the plate was made?
  12. Hi Bob Can you see evidence of two piece construction looking in the two holes? I do not know of Myochin using two piece construction.
  13. The first image of #20 is quite shiny. The steel must be very smooth! A coat of wax or lacquer both level the surface that they are on.
  14. Does #20 have a coat of lacquer or wax? I like Myochin work.
  15. Happy April fool's day! 😊
  16. Thanks Dan. I agree.
  17. All help appreciated with this mei.
  18. I am adding a fuchi kashira with the shiachi theme.
  19. The brass side looks Nara, but the Mimi does not note does the copper side. The brass side shows an image of Mount Fuji and I think a drying fish net.
  20. Stuff like that happens all the time. I received a sword where the tsuba didn't fit, the habaki didn't fit, the tsuka didn't fit, the kozuka didn't fit, the saya didn't fit.
  21. Takeo Seki, in British Columbia, is also fully trained.
  22. If the sword is over 100 years old, you may be able to get it without duty if you have the proper custom's code.
  23. Hi Bob The poem for the kozuka was a great addition to the piece. Now you have more to enjoy. Keep the terms coming. I love the moon in clouds.
