Hi Sven, First of all welcome to the board ! Then, by NMB rules you have to sign your post (completing your profile) As far as the 4 tsuba are concerned I would guess as it quite obvious #1 Shoami #2 Heianjo #3 Heianjo #4Choshu as per the Kanji on the right - 長州 Best regards Bruno

Hi, I have seen similar tsuba with a Kaga school attribution when from my perspective it is a Heianjo school exemple. What are your views ? Thanks

Nice looking Kozuka 👀

A similar one at a French action 10 years ago :https://www.thierrydemaigret.com/lot/6855/1368757?npp=50& . Hammer price was € 250

So many Hiroyoshi with different Kakihan as in the previous exemples !😅. What is real, what is gimei? The Hiroyoshi ,I purchased on this site to an honorable member some years ago has a different Kakihan .... Mine looks legimate considering my documentation and other exemples in museums (https://art.thewalters.org/detail/32601/tsuba-with-legendary-figures-by-the-seashore/) .Probably different students adopting the same name ?

You are a genius Brian. -
Surprisingly, Haynes does not list any MOTOTAKA with the 珍 Kanji.... but we find 元孝 or 元鷹. But we have the Genchin guys....

Yas, you are perfectly right. Depending the angle, the kind of light (natural, artificial) and I would say even my mood ... tsuba color might change. These one probably represent an approach to the real (natural light) color.

Sébastien, I found this one similar to yours from Choshu school (Nagato) and from the Kawaji family. Signature is Choshu Hagi No Ju Kawaji Saku長州萩住河治作 (https://www.millon.com/lot/93327/9638460) I hope it can help

Curran, you are right it was a real gambling.... Result was more than expectations (with a light cleaning)....
-
Robert, I am not an expert (on anything by the way ) but Akasaka sounds good. Mine was sold in 2016 for 90 Euros on Ebay from a very old french collection.... Not as nice and delicate as yours but... price difference makes me think that such tsuba can be found at a more affordable price.

I understand now why some famous tsuba collections have desappeared....

Thank you Sala Marcos for your insight. My tsuba is carved and their is no dai seppa which are separately added. As a conclusion there is a large tendency to consider this tsuba as Mino.
-
Thank you Chris and Michael for you interest. I take Chris option for an early Edo Edo Mino one. Trying to find similar ones on the net I was surprised,to face an "empty box". Does someone can share similar tsuba pictures ? Thank you Bruno

Hi Gents, this shakudo tsuba with nanako and summer plants design, in the shape of a "tachi " tsuba but with Hitsu Ana (therefore it is not a tachi tsuba) is puzzling me. Having some very small gold dots inserted, it could make me think having a goto influence. But I doubt Goto family did such tsuba, looking that way. What are you views? Thank you
-
Poor quality. Not higo (please refer to hitsu ana) . Sorry for this bad news if any.

Some comments: @Georges --> The shunga meaning --> undoubtedly a missing act from me @Dale --> Yes it is a big one --> Weight is 225 grammes and size is 9.5 cm * 8.0 cm I'm happy to see that for the time being there are more people in favor than against
-
Both tsuba are nice and in my taste but definitvely none of them are their school styles. Definitively gimei but I like them!

Georges, this "tsuba" probably has never been made to be mounted on a sword and was more as a "tourists souvenirs". Nevertheless it shows great skills from the maker....I add some more pictures... Thank you for you kind comments !
