  1. Could this be an island sword as discussed in our military sword section of the forum?

    Tsuba gimei

    Happy Birthday Grev!
  3. The listing itself was free, but the reserve is what cost me the $40....at least i still have my yari. I remodelled the "shirasaya" so it is not so fat anymore, also.
  4. It cost me $40 to list this, had one bid that was not even close to my costs or the reserve....lose money, as the Hawaiian saying goes.
  5. My question has been answered, i can die in peace (someday not soon I hope)!
  6. English is a bit slippery, but i assure you, if i use the term, i know exactly what i mean as a blade smith who polishes his own work. How many here pontificating on polishing actually do so?
  7. I would, he has no business at all messing with artifacts and swords.
  8. I recommend contacting a polisher for a quote on a touch up polish; the burnished area has been scratched on the shinogi ji. The papers look like the sales document and a copy of the former police registration.
  9. All i ever find around here is garbage
  10. Steam. After you clean it out, redo the rice glue, keep it out of where the nakago goes, and fit the nakago while the halves are clamped, then remove the nakago and clean it of rice.
  11. Seems like a reasonable buy, nice hamon esp. by the kissaki.
  12. Seems older than Shinto to me as well.
  13. It would be helpful to see photos of the sword in question to be able to offer an opinion.
  14. Your blade would look awesome in polish, cool shape.
  15. https://www.ebay.com/itm/274366130362 this is my listing previously posted in For Sale here on NMB.
  16. Let us hope it is not swallowed by a giant sea monster or fall off the edge!
  17. Welcome Arnel, thanks for your service from a fellow (Army) veteran.

    translation.

    Kanemasa?
  19. I have a wakizashi with a leather combat cover; it is over at the shop so can't get measurements or photos right now.
  20. If the leather cover will not slide off the handle, removing the stitching would allow removal, and could be restitched later.
