    Hi, This sayagaki on the Shirasaya is patriotic phrase very much. Adam san, Your English translation isn't correct. Can you please post pics of both side of the shirasaya?

    Hi, I'm most interested in #260 of page 65 on your oshigata book now. This sword(Important cultural properties) was nicknamed "Mikaeri/Mikaeri-Motoshige" (見返り元重). I think this Oshigata will be a original shape of the tang before suriage(shortened blade) when around 1868.

    Hi ,Brandon, Is this sword mei 常州　正兼(Joshu Masakane) in Kanji ? This smith was RJT smith.

    Hi, There are a lot of mistakes for translation of an inscription of this sword on War Relics Forum. #1 pic: It's an owner's name. Nakao(family name), Saburo is his common name. Tachibana asson is his traditional family name. Yoshikatsu is his real name. "kore o sasu" means owned by/used by/wearing by.

    Hi, It's date,not signature. Front: 慶應　(Keiō). Keiō period(1865-1868) is a name of the year at late Edo era. Back: 慶應七寅年(Tiger year,the 7th year of Keiō.) But,Keiō period exists only 4 years,not existed 7th year of Keiō. If the tiger year is right, the date on the Do is the 2nd year(1866) of Keiō period.

    Hi, Blade length isn't written on this Kofuda. This doubtful Kofuda says: 武州大慶直胤(Bushu Taikei Naotane) 時代　文政 (Bunsei period) 相見申候 [(I) see this sword just as a Naotane work] Back side: #3331 and the red stamp says Honami Koson (本阿彌光遜印).

    Hi, The signature says Toshichika (敏周), made in 1942 (二千六百二年).　 WW2 period Seki smith.

    Hi, I don't know Mr.Masahiro Ohara's military service record. But,this blade was made in January,1944.
