  1. the fact that it has a real habaki is quite interesting.
  2. I use light sewing machine oil. it is basically neutral and spreads easier allowing a lighter coat.
  3. Wasn't the whole topic that green papers added no value to swords because of the suspect ones, so the organization wants everyone to resubmit for "true" papers?
  4. I agree. But I do not read Japanese so i was hoping for a translation of the paper. I enjoy this tsuba. It is quite large and fine. I was also using this post as a test post where I could add an offsite picture to verify things were working. I will not repaper this piece. i bought the piece and this paper came with it. Supposedly a high ranking paper if still valid.
  5. After the discussion on the old board about many papers becoming "Yakuza" papers and no longer valuable, I asked if that referred to tsuba or fittings also. It was stated that it was unlikely which leads me to believe it is nice to have papered examples of fitting then and the value shouldn't be hit to hard. I have this green papered tsuba and would like to know what the papers say and get opinions on the validity on what could have been dicey papers if on a sword. Thank you so much for looking and commenting.
  6. I will bet many a member here will have something of much better value for you when the time arrives.

  12. Thank you Ford.
  13. Thank you ford. I've been trying to search that on the internet to find out what would happen to the iron. The question then becomes how did the Japanese patinate just the copper, shibuichi, silver, and shakudo parts inlayed into old iron without harming the iron? Cold patination processes?
  14. looks like a nice gendaito to me. don't know if you should buy it without a value. maybe its overpriced or under-priced or market priced.
  15. couldn't you do a rokusho without harming the iron?
  16. I'm glad you decided to check in.
  17. Found near identical ones though mine (IMO) are much nicer. 18. What is the price as that could sway the opinion heavily.
  19. I would be happy to own it. glad your father took care of it.
  20. A lot of grandfathers moving a lot of pieces these days.............. Well good for us then.
  21. LOL. I was trying to find out why you would feel bad. Wasn't it the other thread where the gentleman priced too low?
  22. ford posted about a paint stripper. I think the equivalent here is Stripeeze???? I'm sure he'll chime in shortly.
  23. Why do you feel bad? are you confusing the this thread with the other one?
  24. yes if you can get someone to buy it. they are all over ebay for $20.
