  1. Markus I'm sending message on facebook
  2. I was hesitant to add much as last time I was criticized for not having cropped them. I was mostly asking about the activity I saw compared to what i read in sesko's and connoisseur's The habaki is rubbing the nakago pretty badly. here's a nakago shot.
  3. Mumei blade with connecting nie in the valleys of the hamon makes me think of katsukuni. of course I cannot get a decent picture but I will post some of what i have and a link to the album since i cannot crop effectively. I was looking at boshi and sunagashi and these smiths kept coming up so I am trying to pinpoint it. HERE IS THE ALBUM: http://s262.photobucket.com/user/jason_mazzy/library/Japanese/katsukuni
  4. https://books.google.com/books?id=ik-E8G6FMQsC&pg=PA175&lpg=PA175&dq=no+kami+Sukemasa&source=bl&ots=epwzW1A8yW&sig=bvBLb9mcEV2Ut7xweO47qoQW6Rs&hl=en&sa=X&ei=gggrVdHtMIKrgwTG24CICg&ved=0CDkQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=no%20kami%20Sukemasa&f=false
  5. wow. I really like those.
  6. I have had requests from members who don't do facebook to keep them in the loop. Please post here and I will check in as time allows and update and coordinate with you here.
  7. Is this the same book i just bought on lulu 2 days ago?
  8. Tensho 3 Nen 8 gatsu August, 1575 Noshu Seki ju Kanewaku saku (濃州関住兼涌) according to sesko book, the three that signed this way are: Kanewaku (兼涌), Bunmei (文明, 1469-1487), Mino – „Kanewaku“ (兼涌), he lived in Seki, his name is also read as „Kanewaki“ Kanewaku (兼涌), Tenbun (天文, 1532-1555), Mino – „Kanewaku“ (兼涌), he lived in Seki, his name is also read as „Kanewaki“, Kenbōmidare, hitatsura, chū-saku Kanewaku (兼涌), Keichō (慶長, 1596-1615), Mino – „Nōshū Seki-jū Kanewaku“ (濃州関住兼涌), his name is also read as „Kanewaki“ So the one the is closest to the mei is the last one but he didn't start until 1596? So is this an early piece for him? or a later piece for the second kanewaku listed? The onlyone listed in nihonto club is http://nihontoclub.com/smiths/KAN2920
  9. I love armor and have always wanted a decent one, but with the fakes running so high it may not ever be a reality.
  10. I should have posted this here also. my bad. I posted it on some facebook groups but thought Markus would cover it here.

  14. now I wait for e-book lulu code..........................
  15. I am currently scouting locations to have a meeting. Mr. Sesko has agreed to be onboard and provide education. Please respond here and PM with interest to attend. The plan is quarterly.
  16. is it on both sides?
  17. Thats great to hear Markus. I was hoping to compare a mei from your koto meikan to compare side by side. easier than trying to hold a sword up to a computer screen.
  18. Since you are posting here I assume many of you have ebooks and I have a few questions. 1: Is the quality of the ebook the same, better, or worse than the print version you can buy at lulu? 2:can you print the pdf style books? or a certain page? 3:If so at what quality? I obviously don't want to print the whole book but for certain meis and kantei it is easier to have the page in hand. I like that you can download ebooks unlimited times because then I can carry a flash drive and keep one on my home computer.
  19. I actually may be wrong about the toad. I think he has a gourd. And another senna has a toad. I appreciate someone who nudged me in my research.
  20. That is tekkai sennin. I have a tsuba or two with him in it. my understanding is he is a crotchety old hermit that could help people and also kind of teleport by blowing wind to his destination. often seen with a frog.
  21. I spoke to the seller and he assured me both sides were identical
  22. thank you jim for posting here. I am collecting names and believe we have at least 6 that ae serious so far. Markus Sesko has volunteered to teach and lead some educational workshops and I am currently trying to coordinate with him. Having Markus is an amazing opportunity to grow and learn in our pursuit of Nihonto knowledge. Currently the thought is quarterly meetings and hopefully some sort of militaria or show affiliations. There is room to grow built in and as the word spreads we may get member increases allowing us to do monthly or every other month meetings. Please post here if you are interested so i can be sure I have not missed you and I have the opportunity to gather your input and information. When we nail down some dates I will work on an email newsletter of sorts or flyer. Thank you for expressing your interest and posting here.
  23. LOL. we can start a sticky in the backstage area. All us military idiots who choose to dump our minimum dollars into an expensive hobby.
