i was waiting to see how long it woud be before it popped up here. its a very pleasing design with a mix of metals. I think is wonderful but what is the odd discolouring at the top of the seppa dai?? -
Well, I noticed it right up front, but let it go to the cognoscenti to point it out. In this world of fakers who have no heart it behoves us all to be alert, to learn more and to be BE HUMBLE - yet persist with The Way. There is so much original, very good art "out there" that we, the True believers, need to have strong shoulders. We must be eternally grateful for the likes of Ford Hallam to help us navigate this slippery mountain path. BaZZa. well said Bazza,

Well we can only hope David didn't loose to much money on this very interesting and educational learning curve.

is it me or does the original subject poster seem to aquire questionable tsuba then post them for comment. then ignore all advice, points and argue till he's blue in the face. i tend to take note of people more experienced then myself, even if i don't necessarily agree with them.

off the top of my head, i read this some 15 years ago from Samurai: The Weapons and Spirit of the Japanese Warrior it was one of points of interest in the book i remember. the full details pass me by but its a book that really sticks in my mind. but it had a inlayed cutting test aswell -
yep, i only paid 600 Aussie for mine with its original buckle tassel less then 6 years ago. I don't know why there so popular, to cause such demand.

steve please don't take my post as a dig or slight at your post or opinion. It was just a flippant remark I made on the sword you posted that was all. all points have be made about paint quality ETC if it means anything to you if I saw this for the right price I would buy it,
-
i personally see nothing offensive, but saying this i have always said the type 95 is over rated and over priced. this may cloud my opinion. peaple whom see differant swords from whats listed in the 3 bibles of IJM swords seem to dismiss anything not shown what if this 'after market' work was done by the owner who was skilled craftsman, who just had alot of spare time??? that work is far beyond a simple hack job or amateur the paint looks aged to me, i have seen type 32's that have be re-issed with simular black paint.

forget the rape of Nanking, read the Analyzing the “Photographic Evidence” of Nanking Incident this book is really interesting, if you ever want to read a book of a nation trying to forget what they did . but I felt soiled for enjoying reading it, as a person whos grandfather spend a few years in a POW camp run by das Deutsche -

I can understand why a imperial household swords mounts are wonderfully decorated. But the Dirk appears to have been forgotten or left out, with styizled trend. I could never figure that out. The really only identifying marker is the mekugi screw. To also note the F/G BOOKS are the only source of info in English only having a drawing of the Dirk. PS, IF your going to drop a big mount of cash the red cross dirks are very very pleasing to the eye

Annoying update, got a lovely call from FedEx Melbourne today. Saying I have just today to pay the taxes or it's returned. I was told they only hold items for 5 buisness days. Got a breakdown of fees too. OMG WTF.
