  5. Just my thoughts. As a novice in the Nihonto field I thought about your dilemma and what I would do if the sword were mine. I think that sometimes you have to look past a flaw or damage to a blade to see the original beauty of the blade. If you can look past this and imagine ( sometimes it takes more imagination than other times ) the original intent of the sword smith and the beauty that he instilled in the blade is all it takes. That being said I think for me I would have a window ( as large as possible without getting into a damaged area ) polished into the blade. After this I would be proud to display the blade with all of its condition problems, but a beautiful window showing the original beauty of the sword and the skill of the original sword smith. Rather than polish out some of that beauty or change the original configuration of the blade or loose any of the original Hamon, I would be very happy with a “before and after” knowing that I had a original treasure. Just my 2cents. MikeR
  6. WOW. I just went back and looked at your pictures in the original post. Your sword is Beautiful. I wish that I could be the swords new caretaker but right now times are a little tuff. Good luck to you with your sale and congratulations to the New Caretaker when the Sword finds him. MikeR
  7. Very cool with a great story. I applaud you for doing the research. Thank you for sharing MikeR
  8. I had posted a blade here back in December with what appears to be the same signature. I was also told it is Kanemoto ( possibly Mino ). I attached a couple of pictures. MikeR
  9. Beautiful blade. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing. The pictures are great. MikeR
  10. Yes this looks like this is a beautiful sword and I too would love to see the whole blade. MikeR
  11. I think we are ALL Collectors. We just ALL collect different STUFF. Some collect objects, some collect money, some collect pictures of their vacations. I think I am one of the Very Lucky Collectors here on the board. As a old time collector I have had a lot of nice stuff, as a newer member of Nihonto I have a very modest collection of Beautiful Japanese Swords ( with the help of some Great Members here ), as one of the older members ( in age) I have collected money and enjoyed it-then turned it into stuff that I enjoy more. So I don’t have much money, but I do have a lot of stuff. But the collection that I am most proud of is my Beautiful Family, my Beautiful Girlfriend and the Great People here on the board. Thank you to ALL and stay safe in these trying times. MikeR

  18. Bruce I am happy to see that you made a great decision that you will never have any regrets about. Also it is nice to see that people like JP understand what you have and what they want and are willing to work with you no matter how you proceed. And like Chris said, no matter who does the re wrap please share the sword with us when it’s done. Glad it seem to be working out for both of you. MikeR
  19. Bruce if it were me I would have it re wrapped. The reason for me would be that I never want anyone to think that I am selling junk. ( please don’t think that I am saying your sword is junk, I am not ) I would rather get it looking right and if I had to take a little loss I would. Sometimes the buyer is happy with their purchase until someone else tells them they don’t like it, then suddenly they aren’t happy anymore and it’s now your fault. I don’t know anything about this model but to me it looks like a nice sword. Just my two cents and what I would do if it were mine. What ever you decide will be the right decision. MikeR
  20. WOW what a beautiful blade and Great photography. Thank you for sharing MikeR

  23. Hello everyone and thank you in advance for any help. I traded some unwanted stuff for this Wakizashi over the weekend. The blade has had a hard life but I love the mounts and the leather cover is in excellent condition. I had a very hard time getting the Hamon to show but I did the best that I could. If someone can also help me with the smith that would be great too. If it would need to be posted in the translation section I can do that also. Thank you. MikeR
  24. Pm sent. Thank you
  25. This is how I had mine stored up till a month ago. I am in the process of moving so all have been packed away for now. This picture is my living room. I will be making a dedicated room in the new home to put everything back up. I love having my collection out where I can appreciate it every time I walk by. You would be surprised how many times you notice something new about a old sword that you can look at. Thanks for looking. MikeR
