  1. That’s great Piers. The prints themselves tell a great story and deserve hours of close study and appreciation. Now add the fact, as you have stated that a matchlock is seen in the foreground makes this even more fascinating. Sometimes what appears to be a simple piece can add new information for us to start down another road in our collecting Great catch, thank you for sharing and always being there to help all of us with our questions on a subject that there is so little written information. Thank you. MikeR
  2. Great Tanto. Congratulations. I also enjoy WW2 Tanto and I would be proud to own this one. Thank you very much for sharing. MikeR
  3. Beautiful!! Congratulations on a GREAT purchase. MikeR
  4. Ray and Sam, thank you for sharing your pictures. Like you Sam I always forget to take pictures. The only picture that I have year after year is one that I have someone else take of me behind my table. It was a Great Show as usual. Many old friends and some new ones. All great people. Mark and his family do a WONDERFUL JOB of making this all work and it does. For the most part, The displays are always something that you will only be able to view at this show with some being that once in a lifetime experience. Hope to see everyone ext year. MikeR
  5. Thank you very much for the follow up. I do like the shorter, more beefy types, rather than the one you see in the background. By the way he is asking $3600.00 US for that one and that is all I know about it. It is so hard when there is so little information out there,( except for you and you always go far and beyond to help), to spend that kind of money without some solid information. I do enjoy the fancier barrels But also that is sometimes more for the tourist rather that making it a better gun. I would much rather have a plain great gun than a fancy lesser desirable one. This one did jump out to me I just don’t know if it jumped high enough to warrant the money. Again thank you so much for the help. You helped me in the past with another purchase and I truly appreciate you. If I can get any other information I will share it here. Mike
  6. Yes I am here. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. It’s been crazy at work. Sorry I don’t have any other pictures but I can try and contact the owner. Please let me know what I should ask him. I thought the gun was very interesting but I know little about them. It is for sale but to me the price seemed pretty high. He is asking $4200.00 US. Is this a desirable piece? Do you think it is worth that kind of money? Thank you for the information that you provided. Mike
  7. I was at a show this weekend and looked at this Teppo. I was told that it was .69 caliber and signed under the barrel. I have included some pictures of the piece and a couple pictures of his pictures of the signature. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. MikeR
  8. Yes, than you to Mark and his family for making this show happen. And also a big thank you to all those that took their time to set up and those that came through the doors to search for answers, knowledge and goodies. It was great setting up at the show for the weekend and reconnecting with many people I only see once a year. It is also nice seeing new faces and talking to them. I introduced a couple to the sword world this show and they were blown away with the willingness of all those they talked with to help them learn and understand and the willingness of all those at the show to freely share their time and knowledge. I look forward to setting up at this show every year and have never been disappointed. MikeR ( the guy in the front corner with all the sword books and posters for sale)
  9. Very interesting belts. Thank you all for sharing MikeR
  10. Great job Bruce. Thank you for always sharing and helping make this forum a Great Place. I think Belt Section would be a real nice addition MikeR
  11. Always great to hear from you John. Thank you for sharing. It is nice to see the difference. No matter what the difference they are a pleasure to own one, if your are that lucky. MikeR
  12. Great Show. I look forward to this show every year. Hope to see my old friends and make some new ones. Come on down Mike
  13. Mark I will take the hard bound one that you have for $250. Please contact me when you get back home. Thank you. MikeR
  14. Very nice one. Treat it well and enjoy it. MikeR
  15. I think that I could like it if it is Tanto size and I think as a Tanto it would make sense. Really shows some ingenuity, maybe out of necessity or just using what you have available at the time. I think sometimes it is nice to have a conversation piece like this amongst your collection and sometimes the funny thing is it will sometimes bring more interest than your best blade. Of course it would have to be priced very reasonable for just a conversation piece. MikeR
  16. It is nice to see this topic brought back to life. John and Ed both great looking pieces. Thank you for sharing. I haven’t searched any out for a long time but also haven’t seen any for sale for many years. MikeR
  17. Very good advice Brian. I agree 100%. If you like it, keep it, display it and appreciate it. Like Brian said if not sell it to someone who will give it a home it deserves MikeR
  18. Nice one. Congratulations. As Bruce said above, DONT TRY ANY TYPE OF CLEANING OR REFINISHING, until you have read and reread the link above and had some more knowledgeable people chime in. Thank you for sharing. MikeR
  19. Thank you Bruce. I will measure the anchor stamp as soon as I can and repost it. Have you ever seen one with the peg in the Kashira? Do you have other #95 recorded? MikeR
  20. Just picked this one up and thought I would post it so that it could be added to the records. Supposedly came from the widow and as hard as it was to disassemble I believe it was never taken apart and Might Be True (?). It looks like all parts are numbered 95. To me the painted numbers just looked like blobs. It does have a poorly stamped anchor in a circle, a finished Nakago and is signed of which I could use a translation. I took a lot of pictures and will attach them here but if anyone needs anymore please let me know. A part that I haven’t seen yet and I thought interesting was what appears to be a bamboo peg in the Kashira. The peg is flush on both sides and nicely finished. Please enjoy. MikeR
  21. Beautiful sword Eric. Nice find. Thank you for sharing MikeR
  22. Very nice blade and congratulations on being its caretaker. Welcome and thank you for sharing. Take good care of your blade and enjoy MikeR
  23. I agree with Brian. I am a small time collector and fron what I can see I probably wouldn’t even be interested. Maybe if to were on a table at a show and I could see it in person and it was priced at around $200.00 I MIGHT consider it. It’s a shame the way it was treated, it may have been an interesting piece at one time. Just my opinion but I am only one person. As my wife always says “ there is a lid for every pot” MikeR
