Same motif , but still many differences. Try look at his hat, the fur on the top is not identical. The rings near his hand are different too.

Mekugi is normally hided under the ito on the front side.

Near all Japanese military sword and dirks has the number for assambly on all parts.

Looks like tsuka is broken. Maybe a postwar job.

I like the hammer marks on the habaki, not.

Heres a fuchi with rope on top , this is a sleve inside fuchi. I never use leather or many seppas. I make a new pair in the correct size and thickness. I never changes seppas if they are a pair and match the size of fuchi and saya, I would then change tsuba.

I also have had it in hand. I said it was a fake to the seller. The inscription on the blade , looks like it spells INDIA

Its not the copper handle. The scabbard is with a dragshoe. It also has a mekugi, copper handles dosnt have one. The price was right for that type.

Since the copper handle version was made in a small amount and its the first type, I dont think the prices are stupid. Finding one with matching numbers and in good condition is rare.

It sure once had rayskin on handle and shargreen on the scabbard. It has been stored wrong ,since all skin has fallen of.

I think You got a army type 3 ,late war. Kanemune ,1944, march. Gifu province, civilian name , Fukumoto Koichi ,born oct 14 th. 1902 ,died march 8th 1977. adopted son-in-law ,Fukumoto Amahide.
