I started with nihonto in bad shape, then many years later I started ww2 collection. Then sold all nihonto and bourght some nice ww2 swords. Now im into nihonto again but in far better condition than I was younger. It is easy to find complete ww2 swords for a fair price. No other country in the world used swords like that in the battlefield. The navy kyugunto is IMO the most beautiful navy sword in the world.

I have seen wood habaki's too. Only used with shirasaya. I use elmers wood glue.

Heres a little mix of dirks,parade kyuguntos,"combat" kyuguntos and kaiguntos.

Army kyuguntos are found with anchor on the backstrap of the handle where the cherry blossom is placed. But they are very scarce.

Strange ,It has star stamp and a mintogawa mon. But the mon is very poor quality ,I think it is added postwar and the horimono too. -

Saya is made of Honoki wood an wrapped with somekind of thin skin. Then its heavy laqured in the color OD. By the way, nice sword and great smith, congrats. -

Its a "copy" of the kyu-gunto( has real blades) made for parade use.
