Showa 5 10 6 nen 7 gatsu kichi jitsu.(A lucky day in July of the 56 th year of Showa (1981) The koshirae is Higo style ,with iron f/k set with sakura in gold. Also matching kojiri. The funny thing is that my interest for Japan started in 1981 when I saw the tv-series SHOGUN as a 11 years old boy. Made the same year and the most wonderful thing is I only gave 89 USD for it. 14. hello Stephen. Thanks for Your reply. I have been looking for a long time too find an old blade in navy mounts.I got it for a low price IMO. I think I wait with the togi a little bit I was aware about the shirasaya.I will get some honoki wood and make a shirasaya and a tsunagi for the mounts.I have done that with another early 1883 navy dirk. I hope one day I find out which Kunihiro it is.

  16. Thanks Stephen, Is it possible too find out which Kunihiro it is? What do I have too look for in the blade? Any opinions helpful. Should I get it polished?

  18. Veli ,thanks for Your replys.
  19. Yes ,its very impressive mounts. My pictures didnt catch the hada . but its there. It looks to have been polished many times due too the missing hamachi. Compared to an another older blade I got with 3 mekugiana .this mei is very well done. The blade is much thinner than the nakago , due to many years of polish. Looking forward to se if theres any other blades out in the collections from the same smith.
