vajo Posted September 9, 2018 Report Posted September 9, 2018 I would like to ask which way is the best to make a inventory of the pieces in collection. I think about a catalogue with pictures and description of the piece. I was making cards but this is not so good if you want to have a overlook of your pieces and after time you don't remember all informations. I start this way but that looks to be a big task and a hell lot of photos. What you think? 3 Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted September 9, 2018 Report Posted September 9, 2018 Looks great, that'll do it! -S- 2 Quote
Brian Posted September 9, 2018 Report Posted September 9, 2018 Need a tsuba cataloging app.Where's Gabriel? Quote
Gabriel L Posted September 9, 2018 Report Posted September 9, 2018 Need a tsuba cataloging app. Where's Gabriel? You are weirdly lucky I happened to open the NMB today Brian, I think my lurking status has stretched to a schedule of once every other week. Is this a thing people want, like, for real? Something like nihontoclub but for tsuba / fittings? Would it make sense as a web app with privacy controls, e.g. you could maintain your personal collection log / transactions in a section visible only to yourself? Not sure how realistic it would be that I would get around to this, I don't have enough tsuba that I would ever need it for myself, and I don't study fittings in depth enough that I would feel confident curating the content e.g. establishing schools and whatnot. Also making apps takes a lot of time and work, haha. 1 Quote
kissakai Posted September 9, 2018 Report Posted September 9, 2018 Hi Chris This is the format I use in A4 When other /extra information is found you just update your records I keep the Hi Res images on my hard drive Fount/back and edge or inide the tang as this shows the structure I don't know how Mauro keeps his records but they are better than mind NMb tmp.pdf Grev PS Anything in red is unconfirmed 1 Quote
vajo Posted September 10, 2018 Author Report Posted September 10, 2018 Thanks Grev. Did you bind your sheets it or you hold it loose in a "Leitz - Ordner"? Quote
kissakai Posted September 10, 2018 Report Posted September 10, 2018 They are all on the computer and backed up I was going to adjust the A4 size so it fits my laptop but not just yet I have used a photobook (when on offer) and let then print the pages (PDF) which turned out really well After trying a few Bonusprint was the best quality and the easiest to us. I think new customers get 30% off and this is well recommended They look just like my LuLu tsuba book so have a look/preview on LulLu and search for Greville Cooke Quote
kissakai Posted September 10, 2018 Report Posted September 10, 2018 PS I have some in a loose leaf folder (usually the papered or restored tsuba) but it always seems too bulky Quote

vajo Posted January 27, 2019 Author Report Posted January 27, 2019 I decide to go foreward with a collection book. The first part of Tsuba is described. I needed 4 month for the first part. I don't know how long for the second part. Overview: 7 Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted January 27, 2019 Report Posted January 27, 2019 Looks very professional Chris, whatever the cost in time the results are well worth it. As per the time to complete the next part....when it's done it's done! Cheers, -S- 1 Quote
Brian Posted January 27, 2019 Report Posted January 27, 2019 Some beautiful tsuba there Chris.More pics of that bamboo-style one please! 1 Quote
Greg F Posted January 28, 2019 Report Posted January 28, 2019 very nice Chris, so many good ones. Id love to see the red copper ones in particular. Stephens taste is starting to rub off onto me haha. Greg Quote
vajo Posted March 8, 2019 Author Report Posted March 8, 2019 I sent today the finished "book" for a testprint. I hope that this will look like on my pc. I have now a complete oversight about the collection. I found some tsuba that i have complete forgotten (crazy). A big thank you, to all members who helped me for translating signatures and collecting informations about the pieces. It is not a big collection with 80 pieces but the print will be very helpfull for me to study further. 3 Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted March 8, 2019 Report Posted March 8, 2019 Grande job Chris! This is the kind of order and polish we should all strive for, I'm sure you have inspired many! Well done, -S- 1 Quote
kissakai Posted March 8, 2019 Report Posted March 8, 2019 Hi Chris Very nice presentation that you will enjoy looking through over and over again I was thinking about a combination of my tsuba and the Birmingham museum tsuba This amounts to well over 700 tsuba in full colour then of course the mei! As most of you know I have a LuLu book that I constantly refer to especially as all the schools are grouped together so it's nice to see the styles used Who did you use for the publication and how many tsuba are in the book? PS quantity is no substitute for quality Grev 1 Quote
vajo Posted March 8, 2019 Author Report Posted March 8, 2019 Thanks. The "catalogue" is not sorted in any way by schools or time. You find well known Hayashi near a simple iron tsuba from the end of edo, like a discovery. Its a about the whole collection of 80 Tsuba that i have in my tansu. I have no intention yet to make a publication from it because there are so many good books outside there. What have i to say? The book is a reflection of my personal taste and not a historical compendium. But i will see how good the picture quality is when i get it. If someone is interested to have a copy and can live with that non scientific content, i will not say no. 1 Quote
vajo Posted March 13, 2019 Author Report Posted March 13, 2019 I recieved the book today. After unboxing I'm very happy that the quality is like viewing it on PC. 3 1 Quote
