  1. sorry about the wrong post.
  2. I'll be there. Bringing a mob of Aussies with me.
  3. Showa Ju hachi
  4. There is a naval sword on offer, signed, Geishu Ju Moritoshi. I believe this is the same smith in Slough, page 119. Any information on this smith will be gratefully appreciated. Thanks David
  5. One was issued at the Sydney Shinsa, by the Yoshikawa group. The other (if my memory serves me well) was issued at a Tampa Shinsa. There was something posted on this on this forum. Again ( if my memory serves me well) Chris Bowen acknowledged this.
  6. Sho and Seki stamps don't necessarily mean they are made in a factory. They are arsenal stamps for non traditionally made Japanese swords. Both the NTHK yoshikawa group and the NTHK non profit group, have papered swords with these stamps. Some are low grade Showato and some are fully hand made with non Tamahagane.
  7. I have a Bungo Hidenaga, dated Meiji 37.
  8. I have a sword by Ota Yasutsugu, that I've managed to acquire. My sword is in full polish and in shirasaya. It doesn't have any papers, but matches the Oshigata in Slough's book exactly. I consider this sword to be of very high quality.
  9. I hope these dates are correct. I've already bought my air ticket.
  10. I can't believe how fast the time went. Just goes to show you, time fly's when you're having fun.
  11. Thanks Robert, I was just about to PM you for the address.
  12. I agree with Dr Stein. Each sword should be judged on its own merit and not by the signature. To comment further, I have seen many Yasukuni to that have major problems and only sell for the signature.
  13. I have seen many Gendai Seki Blades and have found that working in Bizen den, is fairly common.
  14. I attended the Yakatabune last year and had a great time. Robert is the host with the most. I am attending the DTI again this year and I am looking forward to attending these extras. PM sent.
  15. Looks like it may be a Tan stamp.
  16. Chinese copy?
  17. I shall now throw the cat amongst the pigeons. One has in their possession a sword, that was made in 1942. It doesn't have any stamps and passes the criteria for a Gendai. How does one truly know from what type of steel it was made from? If the smith used for example, western steel. Added carbon and brought out all the traits found in Gendai, how would one know? I happen to believe this was a fairly common occurrence. Of course, this is complete conjecture on my part.
  18. I'm trying to get in contact with Francis. Does any members happen to know his Phone no. or email address. Thank you in advance.
  19. I have been told, that Tsukamoto Masakazu, was Okimasa's Older brother and not his student. I was also told that Masakazu was the inherited head of the clan. I don't really know if this is true, because I can't read Japanese.
  20. Happy New Year from OZ!

  22. Yes, one shouldn't cross the road. One may be hit by a bus.
