  1. The punched holes go back at least to 1998, so does any one know when they were added and why the OP's question has not been answered?
  2. I like that one Phil! And good to see another fellow New Englander on here!
  3. Is there any thought if this could change? I LOVE Juyo results and I like to review them. Rayhan has been an exceptional member by including full results, that's just not something most non connected folks get to ever see. Massive props. Not to open a can of worms with all the input in the above thread, but........ (you knew there was a but coming).... Every year I see the same names, lines, works. A few outliers, but usually the same swords I have seen 10 times over. As an art and a desire, I do think there are more examples out there worthy of a look. My 2 cents. And no, you can't get a bus ride with it.
  4. Hope Darcy will post full results. I do wonder if any Shinshinto works passed this session.
  5. Fun thread and hope more will chime in if they had blades submitted.
  6. WOW! Nice examples Ron, thanks!
  7. Instead of rolling through eBay or other auctions, I thought this item is a nice example and well worth a look. On Aoi Art, a Hozon papered Hitachi Kami Muneshige wakizashi. Starting price is aggressive on the low side. I don't really know this smith but I spent time on the listing and the pictures. Many nice features and fine hamon and nie work. http://www.sword-auction.jp/en/content/as18399%E8%84%87%E5%B7%AE%E5%B8%B8%E9%99%B8%E5%AE%88%E5%AE%97%E9%87%8D-wakizashihitachi-kami-muneshige
  8. Can't believe this is still not sold. Everything you could want right here, priced well.

My gosh, Darcy is unreal excellent.
  10. This thread has me wanting to make a post in the 'Wanted to Buy" section. Excellent works.
  11. Ron, excellent piece! Thanks for posting! Members have so many amazing things. Love it.
  12. I had interest in a couple for sure. Went another direction on last purchase.
  13. I LOVE Ishido school swords and in particular the Tameyasu works. This one is 2nd generation by the signature, but displays much of the style of the shodai. It may be an early career work as 2nd gen Tameyasu moved towards a different type of choji work as he progressed. I saw this one a bit ago, congrats on the purchase. Ishido is an under rated school IMO.
  14. Thanks Jussi! Not just for the kantei, but your detailed write up really taught me a few angles I had not been aware enough about. Well done. As an aside and not to hijack thread (as I hijack it.....) but maybe a rolling weekly kantei would be fun where a list of members submit a blade a week, one at a time. That way one person does not get overwhelmed with the responsibility.
  15. Sunlight (prolonged) will kill any non-photoautotrophic microorganisms.
  16. Still some time until auction ends. I think the sword is very good and the price is pretty fair. Some shy away from the auction listing as it's a "you bought it, you keep it" deal where you cannot return the sword if something untoward is found when you inspect in hand. Unless a consignment blade, Aoi allows returns (for proper reasons) so many times a sword will not sell at auction close, then be sold 2-4 hours after that.
  17. Interested in the response from the go to guys.
  18. Jean, that's not the condition when I sent it. Are you working on it?
  19. I like Dwain's posts and passion. As a newer nihonto study collector I have been tempted by, and seen all the time, the attraction of trying to buy a $400 blade (or whatever the price) and have it turn out to be a priceless treasure. I would reference Darcy's posts (so great to see him pop in every now and then) on the green paper issue. If I could pass along any advice for newer nihonto folks: - the field is populated with folks that are way more experienced and have seen literally thousands of more blades/listings/references than you. - I was surprised to find they all scan the same cheap listings that many look at. - the push to favor "completed swords", what I call DONE with papers, good polish, etc is so money is not spent on chasing. Spend a night or two in low light or candlelight with a well made sword, it's about the most fun thing you can do. One can learn a lot. - Annoying when that desire to just have a relic in hand burns hot, but time and study will help you arrive at something you really want and will be happy about. When that happens, it's really a nice feeling. Anyways, My 2 cents.
  20. This is the best part about NMB; saw a motif I never had seen before and excellent examples provided by the group. Thanks for the pictures all.
  21. Bruno, that's excellent! I really like that one. Congratulations.
  22. Told you, Jussi would send a wildcard
  23. Well then Komonjo is a reputable source for blades.
