  1. I really didn't have a strong opinion (still learning tsuba) but I LOVE these posts. They really make you think and study. Well done.
  2. What you have added to the information here is good enough!
  3. Major thanks Adam my friend, for this post, a whole lot to look at!
  4. I LOVE Scientist talk Ken!
  5. Complete set of fittings of this quality made for a blade, such a nice package!
  6. Mike Y had one for sale some years ago that was quite amazing: http://tetsugendo.com/kodogu/FT-32_Haruaki.html
  7. Excellent Alex! Thank you!
  8. I only ever had simple one piece habaki on swords I have had before. The double was interesting. How the contact area is shaped, the reinforced beveling of the metal internally was well done. Mostly the application of the gold foil is amazing and smooth, I feel it must take someone years to get even a little good at it.
  9. Cleaning and oiling a sword tonight and spent an hour in study on a double habaki, gold foil.
  10. Grev, http://www.nbthk-ab.org/Shinsa.html Unless there was a change, it was probably April.
  11. Grev, Which shinsa were these submitted for? April? Just curious.
  12. LOVE the kissaki work......
  13. Thanks all. Tsuba is on HOLD pending payment.
  14. Thanks for the tutorial and help. I think it came out rather good.
  15. For sale is a nice mokume style tsuba. I bought this a while ago and have done gentle cleaning with oil, handling, keeping in pocket, and oil + sunshine treatment to bring a nice finish back to the piece. You can see the patterns in the pictures. There is a remnant signature, but there is some roughness to the plate in that section so it's not readable. The mimi also shows fine forging waves which is nice on this style of tsuba. Measurements Length: 7.6cm Width: 7.4cm Thickness: 4mm Nakago-ana: 2.6cm I don't have the weight but it's a hefty piece. I am asking for $275 for the tsuba. As a thank you for the members here that have helped me over the past year as well as Brian for maintaining this site, ALL proceeds from the sale will go to the NMB Message Board. In fact, if you buy the tsuba, you will pay Brian via Paypal and when I get confirmation the payment has arrived, I will ship the tsuba. Shipping is included in the price for US buyers. Overseas shipments may require some extra funds, I just don't know how much overseas shipping is, to be honest. Front: Back: Edge (shot in 2 different lighting types so color looks different, it's the same tsuba): There was a brief thread here on NMB about mokume tsuba: http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/18054-mokume-tsuba/ Contact me via PM for any questions.
  16. Thanks Erick! Hope you are well. Robert, no problem. I can understand with all the masame threads I have started
  17. Entertaining thread to read this morning. Congrats on the papers and thanks for the update. Who has a reference book that has this mei style listed?
  18. I love the masame swords Robert! Looks Tegai? Very nice.
  19. Rabbit front has been quiet. We need more pieces to come up for sale or for people to show!
  20. I always think that, yet see different fakes on many no name swords. Bizarre. You would know better than me Robert, but if these 3 mei look much alike, I need another beer.
  21. My advice is to proceed with a refund and get your thoughts together. Take some time.
