  1. With Hamish, quality of Mei and Nakago is more important.
  2. You know I don't recall ever having to pay the import tax, generally the value is understated as a precautionary measure against the more unscrupulous members of the postal services.
  3. Very informative Yurie, it would have been nice to have a sword forged by Emperor Gotoba pictured in the article.
  4. The first should have a date on the other side of the Nakago.
  5. Hada looks very reminiscent of Shin Shinto.
  6. Make paper/card seppa.
  7. Dozens of better examples on ebay right now in the same budget.
  8. There were quite a few different pistols available for officers to purchase and carry beyond the Nambu, the smaller calibre semi autos like the 1903 were a popular choice.
  9. Great example Tom, especially with the rare retention cord.
  10. What is your idea of a well made sword?
  11. Looks to have been done post war.
  12. Agree with Ken, an easy to navigate home page is vital. More pictures along with Oshigata would be just fantastic with your posts.
  13. Can you post the original listing?
  14. If someone could compile all the knowledge, rare examples and information on this forum section it would be one of the best Military Sword books available.
  15. The photos are still poor but the blade looks well made and in decent condition. If the price is low I would go for it.
  16. Annoying because some of the Shin & Kai Gunto he has would be nice if not for the fake Yasukuni/Minatogawa/Koa Isshin Mei.
  17. "Musashi" is a great read.
  18. We all appreciate and treasure your knowledge, keep it up!
  19. Saw this on Paul Martins page, there were no pictures of the sword so doubly pleased to find out you are the lucky owner. Can we get some more pictures of that Ayasugi?
  20. Wow Jussi, incredible effort! Thank you for this.
  21. The lack of stamps gives it a better chance of being traditionally made.
  22. I have swords with all matching and numbered Seppa of 2, 4 & 8.
  23. Hit by shrapnel is my guess. Spiderweb rust can also be caused by blood.
  24. The one one ebay from a certain seller without Koshirae or Shirasaya are quality fakes made in china.
  25. Wow, great Field Grade Kyu Gunto you have there, is there an old blade residing inside? The tassel is an early war one for the Shin Gunto, there's a good example of one at 22 inches here on Dougs site: http://www.guntoartswords.com/010439.html
