  1. The index is only 2 pages if i recall correctly. I'll make photos later today if interested:) It could very well be its not so much the signatures that are recorded but rather all the different forms of yari..
  2. Hi everyone, I was hoping perhaps someone has an English index of the following book. Or if there isn't one and someone wants to help I can photograph the pages with the numbers and titles. Nihon no Mei Yari Ten Thanks in advance, Axel
  3. Reading this makes me wish the Dutch Postal service used paypal..
  4. Thank you Koichi!
  5. Hello gentleman and women. I was hoping to receive some help with the lid below. it has some kanji but i'm unsure of what it says. I know the item inside was a ki-seto mizusashi or waterpot for the tea ceremony (maybe 40-70 y/o), but curious to see what information it has. It would probably be a long shot but the interior of the lid seems to be the signature and kiln stamp of the potter.. Thanks in advance! Axel
  6. Fwiw, Looks like.. how to be subtle, junk.
  7. I thought this nanban creation was quite neat. Not my thing but I never saw anything like it either. Apologies for offtopic, from a page other than the homepage - I thought this was the original topic. To OP; nice item. Would like a full English version:)
  8. I want to keep it short. Post photo of the box as well. Cup might be old, 100? Check carefully for ships or cracks. Other than that nice cup. Fwiw; looks like Mino ware, shino type ash (feltspar), glazing. Clay doesn't tell me much. Rinse it first as these glazes can trap materials inside and this cup has definately seen use (which is in no way a bad thing/sometimes even preferred).
  9. Sorry to revive such an old topic, but I just stumbled on the following: https://yuhindo.com/omori-eiman-mitokoromono/
  10. Will it not ever continue to be a case by case thing? I mean some of these I would personally like were it not for circumstances and finances. But is there a general trend other than just the average of prices and supply? The one on the bottom is interesting. Rarely if ever see that shape! #2 & #3 are nice as well. One doesn't entice me too much. The famous ox motive in iron is more my thing if I were sourcing an example.
  11. From searching about this type of decoration i was under the impression (see below link) - it was gamahada not sawari? http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/29369-techniques-of-tsuba-makers/
  12. This is the first time i saw this type of decoration and I had an eye on then since a day or two and thought they were interesting. https://www.ebay.com/itm/A272-Real-old-iron-Japanese-sword-guard-pair-WANGATA-TSUBA-RARE-design-/333282663911?hash=item4d9931dde7 I'm *scrapped* an idiot
  13. Happy to see it wasn't a waste of a topic:) Coincidentally i was looking for information on some strange surface pattern and google let me to the Jstore once more. Lastly: correction on the number i mentioned in the first post, its 6 a month apparently. Which is quite generous for a website like Jstore.
  14. I stumbled over this interesting analysis of the crystalline structures of cutouts from (damaged), tsuba. It also shortly outlines the main techniques and I thought it was pretty interesting, but I wasn't sure this was the right place to post it, otherwise feel free to move to the right place. https://www.jstor.org/stable/4629307?read-now=1&refreqid=excelsior%3A21cf39d9642de0d9844403354853f664&seq=12#page_scan_tab_contents I think you need to make an account to read it, but then you can view full files every now and then (i think its 5 a month, which is pretty sweet). Kind regards,
  15. Awesome Steve. Thanks a lot! One can never know enough about some object in your care:)
  16. Steve, thank you! I just found the box and made a better photo. The maker is supposedly Sakujuro Ozeki.
  17. The mixed metals on the 'bones' of the fan, I think are nice. But after seeing it yesterday I was wondering to myself it this tsuba was to be considered as stuffy or pompous or artistic. Personally it could've done without so many of the tiny motives.
  18. Hi everyone, After the success of another tea ware related question I figured to try too. It has a pretty elaborately (what i think is an attribution(?)), on the inside. The inside lid below belongs to a Inuyama tea bowl i have. Is there anyone who can help translating? Thanks in advance!
  19. Setoguru teaware? Style and/or province might help narrowing down the maker.
  20. Apart from the price its quite impressive
  21. I am unsure whether its the same for in or out, but importing something antique (like Nihonto), is 6% if 100+ years for the EU.
  22. I have this one archived under 8th generation Choraku Ohi. I used to have a site where there was some information, but i can't seem to find it right now (if i find it later I'll edit post:).
  23. I'm not speaking from experience, but perhaps those cotton swabs to clean ears work well with above mentioned alcohol. They're nice and small and perhaps more precise than a toothbrush.
  24. Sounds like a rare chance for those in the right place! Sounds fantastic.
  25. Very cool items on the page, like that kuroraku teabowl. Saved the page too. Also some of the clearest photo's of hada I've ever seen.
