  1. Wow! This is becoming even more interesting. So, I guess, this cup was sitting in the box for at least 80 years or more.
  2. I do not see any cracks, but it looks heavily used with a lot of micro scratches and some small chips in glazing, nothing bad though. And this is the box.
  3. Yes, it is the one This is the first time I use this dealer, so not sure how reliable are his descriptions. But I really like this cup anyway, it looks better and more colorful in real life, and his pricing is not bad.
  4. Hi, Recently purchased from Japan. Advertised as 17-18th century Oribe ware, which I do not think realistic, but it was rather cheap and the colors are just great, different hues of green, blue, brown, white and yellow. Worth using for sake anyway. It came in a vintage looking box wrapped in old paper, but I am not sure if it is original to the cup, maybe just used for storage. So, what do you think is this. Looks old, but how old? Thank you, Vadim
  5. Just looked again under a really big magnification and it seems to me this is not rust at all, but indeed some paint or laquer! Thanks Ray for mentioning this possibility, I am so happy that I have not scratched it off!!!!!
  6. It is stored in koshirae. The scratches probably appeared over time by taking in and out the blade. They do not look really that bad uder normal conditions.
  7. Please see a larger picture attached, it is more of a red-brown color. It is not spreading outside, but who knows what is happening inside
  8. Have bought a Mihara sword couple of years ago on this forum. It has some ugly mune ware near nakago, but as I've heard it should not be a big surprise for a 600-year old blade. Otherwise the blade is a beauty. What concerns me is a red rust spot visible inside one of the ware. Is it a serious problem? Should I just contain it with oil, or try to fight with something like Renaissance Metal De-Corroder or Never Dull? Any advise is welcome! Thank you, Vadim
