  1. Still working for me Perhaps I could make a clone of the site for worst case. Like nihonto.ca/yuhindo, I really wish someone had.
  2. How do you know you've been away too long? Read title and mind processed it as in being on a date with someshi
  3. Hi Alex, Any chance you perhaps have a forced http*s* addon or something similar running? Perhaps that's what's tripping up the connection.
  4. Working for me: http://sho-shin.com/sag4.html One of my favorite sites.
  5. Kutani ware for sure. The potter's name I'm doubtful about, will edit later if I find out.
  6. Sure Michael, I can get that view. This one however isn't all that shoddy to my eyes. And while perhaps not single themed they're definitely above average quality fittings. Did you ever sea-horsey menuki though?
  7. Good evening, Hope all are well. Browsing Aoi the following daisho appeared. I think anyone would be in remiss not to see the koshirae (would be remised?). Sea horse menuki (definitely a first)?! Dai Tengu kashira (what's cooler than Tengu)?! Variedly themed its quite a nice composition (the only thing less my thing are the namban kojiri but that would be nitpicking it). https://sword-auction.com/en/product/17555/as22714-大小宇多平国特別保存刀剣-無銘三原正興保存/
  8. The Raku bowl almost likens itself to lacquer ware chawan. Any chance you know who made them? Thanks for sharing.
  9. Took a little digging but dug up this shot, with the loop.
  10. Disclaimer. I could, should've prefaced it by saying I'd probably be wrong. For the record: absolutely fallible 😄
  11. Hello Alec, Sadly it looks less like a real Japanese swords from the new photos (to me anyway). Starting with the undefined shape, the lack of a well defined shinogi - ridge line, destroyed point to the habaki and weird looking rust on the tang. I'm afraid it looks like a fake. However since you only valued the lot on the other piece I suppose you didn't lose anything.
  12. I was going to come to the defense of Kinai but happy to see this tidbit providing a little context. I have a set of shitake tsuba which are (to me), quite clever in the way they're designed. The first time I went over them with a jewelers loop there were details I'd never noticed before (and could barely see with the naked eye)
  13. Welcome, From the picture here it is hard to say anything except, I'm leaning towards real though quite the abuse victim. To me it looks a little like suriage - shortened from sugata or overall shape. But the nagako doesn't look like it, more Edo period. Better photos and close up on the handle and kissaki - tip of the sword, dimensions etc, are necessary. Others will chime in shortly. Also, please sign with atleast your first name👍
  14. Curiously this also happens on phone - android opera. Can check Firefox on phone later, have to beat the supermarket closing soon.
  15. Hi, I'm trying to find something from a while ago. I noticed something odd with going to a next page. When I try to go from say 2 to page 3 (the numbers are irrelevant), it does load the page as one would expect but certain parts are not loaded: see attached. Then when refreshing the page it does load correctly, however It is for me at-least, already doubling server load so hopefully not happening for more people. Also after removing cookie this happens. FYI on latest firefox with a list of addons so might very well not be the board causing it.
  16. This must be one of the biggest sales of this board's history Congrats to both parties.
  17. Following up on this exhibit, the date is set for the sixteenth of March.
  18. I knew it! Now if only Tengu turn out real too👺
  19. Yes please! 🙇‍♀️ Thank you in advance. I'll add it to my ever growing archive.
  20. Just seeing the box turned me on! I think I have one cup by this potter (no box and I believe without mark or sign). Is there any discernable mark on this one? Bumped for pleasure!
  21. Hi Grev, These actually remind me of a pair of plastic, oversized tweezers intended for kids (as opposed of the tiny metal kind that often have sharp edges and corners). Could they be in above c shape as a sort of child variant as well, with the extra wide pads (so a kid doesn't accidentally puncture their eardrum or something like that)?
  22. Thank you for your replies, I just think it's a little large a void to just open up during in polishing. Secondly it's not a reassuring thought thinking a sword might have such substantial hollows (or cavities for lack of a better term), without necessarily being evident to the smith or user. Perhaps its not as large a kizu as I'm considering it to be.
  23. Just wow.. Given it has hozon paper and presuming this wasn't signed with this extreme kizu. It states it "appeared" after polishing but really? I think it is highly doubtful this could have been hidden/or closed before said polishing. Any idea what might have caused this? https://www.aoijapan.com/katanaiyo-jo-minamoto-munetsuguthe-1stnbthk-hozon-token-paperconsignment-sale/
  24. This might be if interest. I was informed of a gallery's upcoming exhibit of lacquer artist Terumasa Ikeda. This is rather reminiscent of the Matrix don't you think? I wonder if this isn't meant for ayahuasca Link to Ippodo Gallery This must've taken an exorbitant amount of time to complete! Quite impressive and while not really my style, it's amazing to see what modern lacquer artist's are capable of.
