I did buy the catalogue but my money was returned so I'm assuming it is out of stock

Mine was ordered on the 23rd and a return payment was the next day.

Obviously they received my payment but there was no reason given for their return payment which was one day after Luca

With some time to go if they did run out I'd thought they would have more printed

Did you send them the € 50 payment or a lower payment? According to the website the catalogue is

€ 15 for Italy

€ 30 for European Union, USA and Canada and

€ 50 for Rest of the World

Czerny's catalogues are available to everyone requests them free of charge (while stocks last). 

 

You pay only the shipping.

There are some very well curated tsuba in there.

 

  There is one I very much want, and 4 or 5 that I might lowball.

If the Tariffs weren't in the way, I might have a much better chance of getting what I am after.

Welcome to what basically whole Europe had to face all the time anyway, lol.

 

I usually try to get items declared as antiques of more than 100 years of age when shipping, because there is a reduced tax applied to those. I even do this with firearms, even though there is a specific tariff code for them. Never had an issue with this and always saved 10% (because antiques are 10% whereas firearms otherwise would be 20%).

 

Second possibility for you btw could be if you win in this auction then to take a holiday in Italy, pick up the items in person and fly home with them  .
