Oshy Posted March 10, 2020 Report Posted March 10, 2020 Im a short 6-7 hour drive away, not sure if I can make it but would be interested to hear who else plans on attending. Quote

b.hennick Posted March 11, 2020 Report Posted March 11, 2020 I'll be there unless COVID19 causes more problems. Quote
Fred Geyer Posted March 11, 2020 Report Posted March 11, 2020 Can't wait for your show Mark, as you always do a GREAT job looking forward to seeing everyone!!! If you want to come to a show for all those who visit this site come to this show you will love it !! Fred Geyer Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted March 11, 2020 Report Posted March 11, 2020 Mark, what are the chances that the show will go on, considering our wonderful pandemic? Quote
Mark Posted March 12, 2020 Author Report Posted March 12, 2020 no idea what the future holds but as of now it is on. My intent is to have the show if i can. If there is some travel issues or if you can't have more than 10 people in a room i guess it will be a problem. A lot of people drive so that should be a plus. I can see large events cancelling where there are thousands of people but the number of people at the show is more like the numbers you might find at a grocery store so not sure what type of restrictions there might be. If there are any changes i will post here, on FB sites, and my show website www.chicagoswordshow.com Quote
Stephen Posted March 18, 2020 Report Posted March 18, 2020 Hope you pull it off Mark....good luck! Quote
Rivkin Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 I extremely doubt this is going to happen. The situation in much of the US is unpleasant as is, Kirill R. Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 I agree. Not only bars, restaurants, & all tourist attractions are closed down, but the entire island of Kauai has a 9 PM - 5 AM curfew! And our governor is asking tourists to stay away for the next 30 days, so the chance that a sword meeting is going to happen is zilch. Quote
Pete Klein Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 On top of what was just mentioned the average age of the majority of participants is 50+ so you do the math. I'm not into crap shoots with my health. Quote
b.hennick Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 The border between Canada and the US is now closed to non-essential travel. Quote
Stephen Posted March 20, 2020 Report Posted March 20, 2020 At my age every day is a crap shoot. Mark just announced hotel shut them down. Quote
Mark Posted March 20, 2020 Author Report Posted March 20, 2020 **********2020 Chicago SHOW CANCELLED******* The hotel just contacted me to say in line with CDC guidelines they are cancelling all events in April. If you have a room reservation they should cancel it Tuesday and you will get an email. If you have paid for table(s) give me a week and i will contact you. I will have dates for 2021 shortly and hope to see you all then. Quote
Mark S. Posted March 21, 2020 Report Posted March 21, 2020 But I live just down the street and this only happens once a year! I DEMAND A RECOUNT!!! OK... foot stomping temper tantrum over. Everyone stay safe and healthy. Feel bad for Mark and all his hard work. Thank you sir! 3 Quote
Oshy Posted March 31, 2020 Report Posted March 31, 2020 Is shinsa typically available at the Chicago show? Quote
Mark Posted March 31, 2020 Author Report Posted March 31, 2020 I loose track, i think there was one in 2018 and maybe 2016. There was nothing scheduled for this year 2020 Quote
Mark S. Posted April 25, 2020 Report Posted April 25, 2020 Disappointed about the cancelled Show... so in honor of all the good memories of past Shows... today I laid out my meager collection and am spending a little time looking at my blades. Not the same though...... Also treated myself to some incense, a tea sweet, and a bowl of matcha. Who knows, maybe I will sit down at my tea table and practice Chanoyu (tea ceremony). Stay safe and healthy everyone. Looking forward to next year already!!! 5 Quote
Peter Bleed Posted April 25, 2020 Report Posted April 25, 2020 Great Stuff, Mark. Nice Display. Thanks for getting it out. What do you have on the Kunikane daito? Oh, and thanks for the tea . . . . Peter Quote
