Rivkin Posted October 4, 2019 Report Posted October 4, 2019 Taikei Naotane at a mumei (NBTHK Hozon) price! Nagasa almost exactly 27 inches (68.5 cm), this work by sai-jo-saku, one of the most celebrated smiths, presents brilliant Bizen styled choji in nie, combined with an outstanding itame hada. Most likely comes from around 1820, when Naotane produced a number of similarly styled Bizen blades.Unfortunately, the item was rescued from the military mounts but not before there was a characteristic rust damage (dots) in couple of areas (as pictured). There are tiny ware. In fresh Japanese polish. Comes with a shirasaya, habaki and a sword bag. 7,000$ to paypal shipping included, but open to negotiations. My first attempt at some commercial gain on the forum, but it looks like without the fees it can be a good option - and thus I can do both a donation and negotiate a price a little further than usual. All items have a two week return guarantee, no questions asked. Kirill R. 5 Quote
Brian Posted October 4, 2019 Report Posted October 4, 2019 Wow. Stunning polish, and equally stunning hada. 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted October 4, 2019 Report Posted October 4, 2019 Were the military mounts retained by any chance? Quote

Rivkin Posted October 5, 2019 Author Report Posted October 5, 2019 Were the military mounts retained by any chance? No, they were in ruined condition. Kirill R. 1 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted October 5, 2019 Report Posted October 5, 2019 Your photography is outstanding, & so is the blade. Quote
Stefan Posted October 5, 2019 Report Posted October 5, 2019 Wow, how did the great polish ? The uzumaki is jumping in my eye. Stefan Quote
cisco-san Posted October 7, 2019 Report Posted October 7, 2019 from Markus book: uzumaki (渦巻) – Lit. “whirlpool.” Whirlpool shaped ō-mokume-based structures in the hada and/or ha-hada. Uzumaki, also referred to as uzumaki-hada (渦巻肌) when appearing in a more or less continuous manner, is seen for example on blades of the Shitahara school (下原). In spots, i.e. rather isolated, uzumaki is a characteristic feature of Taikei Naotane (大慶直胤) 1 Quote
Vermithrax16 Posted October 8, 2019 Report Posted October 8, 2019 Papered Naotane for 7k? Great pictures, well done. I know the drawbacks but when can you get a Naotane work for less than a fortune? You can right here. 1 Quote
