Maurice_lmb Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 hello Jean what a sharp eye Maurice Quote
almeister Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 Hi Jean 1st of all obviously the dates etc .. in info given is not consistent ( not uncommon to see from AOI - as they tend to get info muddled at times ) However I'm sure there's more to your quiz than this ! Cheers , AlanK Quote
Bazza Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 Thought I'd replied, but it seems to have been lost. Sent a PM to Jean with my error found, but like AlanK, I'm sure there is more to Jean's challenge than the date confusion. BaZZa. Quote
BIG Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 False nakago... http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/3261-older-nakago-welded-on-a-newer-blade-how-to-recognise-it/ Best Regards 1 Quote
vajo Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 Thanks Big i see it now. This is not very funny for JPY ¥1,650,000- Quote
ROKUJURO Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 MASAHIDE forged the blade when he was only two years old. He was a real talent! Quote
Geraint Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 Better than that Jean, he forged it two years before he was born. 1 Quote
vajo Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 As Big said it. The nakago was welded. Edit: Conclusion it is not welded. Quote
Brian Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 No. I can pretty much guarantee you that the nakago wasn't welded 2 Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 I'm on phone so I can't check it that well but the numeral date is just messed up at their English page. Their Japanese page has correct date 1789 寛政元年八月日 They even say Kansei in English description but have taken numeral year from Kanen by mistake. Quote
Jim P Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 I am with Brian on this No welded nakago it would not get a NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper if that was the case maybe its, he was born in Yamagata pref. in 1750 He passed away in 1825 aged 76. should be 75 ? Quote
Jean Posted November 20, 2016 Author Report Posted November 20, 2016 Yes, he forged it before even being conceived he was very good...deep foundation/roots for the Shinshinto founder... Quote
