  2. Can't remember who used to signed in blue, back in those days... ????
  3. I ended up with the same Matt. But didn't dare to post..... :-/
  4. Anything but beautiful.....
  5. Yep
  6. Why I'm not surprised...... ????
  7. Yes Anthony! The mei reads "Yamato no Kami Fujiwara Ietsugu" (大和守藤原家次)
  8. But he signed "Yamato no Kami........"
  9. I knew this study. Francesco hold a short lecture about the subject at our "Japanese Legacy II" symposium 2016 in Florence. He used to do the same with a Saotome kabuto and presented the results in 2014 ("Japanese Legacy I") Great insights and new surprising findings!
  10. Good idea ????
  11. Yes, Japanese! But the number reminds me on an machine made NCO blade?! And it has sori.....
  12. Ed,I think we can rule out any Japanese bayonet type (including the export and emergency models)!
  13. "Echizen no Kami Minamoto Sukehiro", IMHO.
  14. Hi Nick, where are the pics. I guess you forgot to add....
  15. I think is a nice matching set (based on the pics)! Nevertheless, the buyer should be aware of all the small additional costs. Shipping, handling, customs and last but not least (depending on the country) the beloved import VAT
  16. As mentioned at the SAF Chris. I could not find an Haruta smith, who was signing in this combination "春田藤原....."
  17. Might be "Omi no Kami Fujiwara Tsuguhiro"?!
  18. .....found! More suitable, I guess ....
  19. I think, this example is not intended to be used. There is another one in a privat collection, very similar to Peter's display item (for sale, BTW). Another axe is in the collection of the "Überseemuseum" in Bremen. Quite different, though. I've a pic somewhere.....
  20. First glance. "Oki no Kuni Ju Okimitsu saku". March Showa 18 (1943)
  21. Yep! The kanji for "aki", can also be read as "suke", though. January 1943.
  22. "Kaneie" would match most of the "visible" strokes. Maybe oblique light of a certain angle might help?!
  23. I can confirm all the above said, also for the katchu-community! ????
  24. Ian, remember the x-rayed "Saotome" once in Florence. Introduced at the first symposium!
