  9. Hi Guys hope were all travelling well? just got a little tanto tsuba that i think is ko kinko, but im for some extra conformation. YAMAGANE with signs of urushi and stamps, but the stamps are whats making me think twice of the age. to me, they dont really fit for the ko kinko time frame in there motif, in my opionion please tell me your opinions

  12. that is also my understanding when this model was been refurbished. they even replaced the leather seppa with metal ones. IMHO I think the removal of the finger loop was due to change in warfare, "IE" how many cavalry charges or mounted attaches took place at the start of ww2.

  16. was just reading this old post, very interesting. I bought a tsuba simular to the above papered umetada I assumed this tsuba was tosho from the mid Edo but they share similarities

  18. if you don't know what KO and OTSU, they refer the 2 variations in the model of type 32 or AKA 1899 troopers sword. KO- was issued to the cavalry and had a blade of approx. 32 inches depending on how much sharpening has occurred. also they have a very small thin drag on the end of the saya. OTSU- was issued to almost every branch in the military and has a blade of approx. 30 inches and has a very notably heaver drag on the saya. hope this helps

  24. at first glance I thought the star had been badly stamped, but after a harder look Edward has pointed it that it appears to could have be a showa stamped over. very interesting now theres some much clearer photos to look at
  25. david Flynn will be more then able to help you with this one, reads KANE HIDE maybe nakata kanehide , RJT star with NAGOYA or SEKI stamps and from memory the stamp below the star is a Kan?? please post pics of the blade please,
