Hi guys, i noticed this sword, iv had a kotani yasunori in the past and handled a few yasukuni-to. but I would like a 2nd opinion on this one. I really have some serious doubts. the hamon looks off for the school and iv never seen a yasukuni with bohi https://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-WWll-Army-officers-sword-Yasukunito-Yasunori-mon-mint-27-1-4/232876241865?hash=item36388173c9:g:bIsAAOSw-f5bZ5-2

no idea, but very cool

heres a example of a non-tradidion sword. visable hada, the numbers on the mune are a bit hard to see. yours does look good, and considering masayuki is recorded as only making gendai. so im not help at all with your example

its the blade a showa-to? or a sword made during the militarization of Japan ?? IMHO they can appear on non-traditional blades in kyu style mounts but need more pics

i think your trying to invent variations. early and late cavarly ?? i hope your not tying to state that the omission of the finger loop as a variation. considering all the dies were never changed ever, and that the punched hole was simply filled and finished to appear uniform brass seppa's were a result of arsenal referbs, and not a separate variant, and having new numbers struck on mis-matched scabbards ??? really not a variation but a correction. and different font numbers/stampings WFT they were all hand stamped you cant really being trying to say that every individual stamp placement would create a variation. wow 130,000 variations I don't get into internet arguments, but I will say I think your pushing your opinion as fact rather then just opinion. type 32s aren't shin gunto, that were made in a nation wide effort in huge numbers of towns, nor are they type 95 Ncos swords, with different tsuba or side/top latches. they are made in just a hand full factories and were 99% uniform apart from hand finishes and machine tolerances fading over time due to use. they were made in large numbers and issued when required, that's why numbers overlap and why that last year of production was 1936 but continued to be issued up until 1945. I bet you didn't even know they were issued to other nations army's and can often be found with other armies acceptance stamps. I had a example that had Chinese or Korean arsenal stamps. so please don't tell me that unaware or inexperienced. Like I said, I don't get into internet arguments so I wont post on this topic after this last post. think what you will A variation is a different or distinct form or version of something.

8 variations???? im open to your ideas but fell the strong urge to laugh very hard as I have spent a lot of time collecting this model. but we all learn something new. considering these always remained the property of the IJA, and only issued I hope your not counting army refurbs or metal finishes like oxide, vs blueing salts vs "white" wow me, but i think this may be a confussion from my mis-communication on variations rather then models.

from memary to those whom still not sure if its fake blade and bohi are completely wrong and out of shape the arsonal stamp is incoreclty placed on the inside of the guard and incorrect for a troopers sword locking mech is mis-shaped the statement of it being overcleaned (note the near mint condition of the serial number stamping on the blade, but the almost 100% non existent lines or machinery marks on the blade WFT. evan the numbers on the drag were still overly crisp as if they have not been exposed to approx. 40 years of ware. the none wooden core on the handle the poorly finished saya throat the poor hanger on the saya the poorly finished and shaped drag on the saya I could keep going but I wont. remember these swords are mass produced uniformly and there are only 2 variations any they were only the length of the blade that changed

good news guys, it landed in the post today, and may i say im very happy. very detailed, and covers ko-tosho, ko-katchushi, ko-shoami, ko-kinko, owari, kanayama, yagyu, onin, kamakura, nobuie, kaneie, akasaka, bushu-ito and many more. approx. 500 pages, but the best part for me is the huge amount of information on the Akasaka school and the Generations. im going to order the second edition tonight. I suggest every tsuba student who is serious buy this book. Thankyou Mr Sesko, Curran, and Grey for your help

agrees with john, steve and ray. very common semi machine made blades made to fill the huge demand of the kyu gunto range. with habaki ,it would make a great iai piece -
