  1. barotrauma to the ear, no membrane damage but a solid week of vomiting and ear pain. would rather have a car inserted up my urethra then suffer that again out of interest are you using ur phone to take photos??
  2. can we have some close ups of the nakago please. well i think there is no other possible option, but complete the polish and take another look then. I purchased this sword the day I blew my ear drums after a bad dive, and was so sick I didn't evan take the tsuka off . turned out to be a hanten-to that surrendered in Burma 1945 with full documentation
  3. I'm abit on the fence guys, something is odd about the hada/"Dimaschq". whys does the hada stop above the hamon looking HA. Mr Flynn has pointed it out too, no noi-guchi, no nothing, just a white area
  4. interesting Bruce, im can only assume 500 yen was a generious sum of money, comparing it to the wages of a yasukuni smith who (according to the book) got between 6 and 2.50 yen per day so thats 83.3 days of work to equal that sum of money, for a top rated yasukuni smith. the nihonto taren kai made approx 10 swords per month around 1935. dosnt that sound abit odd, or am I going mad from lack of sleep
  5. my mistake. it happens to us all
  6. im not pushing this sale, and don't want to raise any unwanted comments on the item or the price, just wanted to post it. A lovely looking dirk in a rare custom made navy dirk mounts. blades is so so, but I'm really more interested in the mounts https://www.ebay.com/itm/BIG-WW2-KAI-GUNTO-NAVY-TANTO-DAGGER-15th-C-KOTO-BLADE-Japanese-Samurai-sword/272992346971?hash=item3f8f9ca35b:g:lokAAOSwldRaPDtt
  7. every scarce for a tsuba on a type 44 to be stamped like that. very interesting, if you please post some very detailed pics of the wholes sword
  8. yeah, I can only pitty the guys polishing and making the shirasaya. but I cant but help look at it
  9. what happens when a wakizashi has sex with a indo-persion tulwar https://www.ebay.com/itm/HL-44-Very-Rare-design-WAKIZASHI-Great-Name-SHIGEKUNI-399years-ago/322948222853?hash=item4b3136cf85:g:TE4AAOSwSQFaOcjQ
  10. i can only agree with Thomas. a pleasing blade to look at, as well as the hole piece BUT that tsuka is a real downer on the whole . if it was me I would be looking at a correct restoration
  11. at a guess, nagoya mino????
  12. good point. easy to do adds to the selling power good points raised jerry.
  13. sad to hear, yet another respected member of the nihonto world who has passed to the next. my kind regards to the family and freinds
  14. nothings unheard of with IJA swords , tho I have never seen or heard of it. marking the fittings to the blade is commonly done with small markings or scratching's. I would love to see some photos just for my records, could you please post them if possible
  15. the first one is a shumei the second a showato so very obvious. what are you getting at, coz I don't follow what you
  16. the quality and subject matter are on the whole good, but with the limited time i had, i would have liked to get better or detailed photos. Especially the showato nakago, as normaly the paint is white or red. Green and yellow are not common, or average and might be a misrepresentation of the most common encountered. why do you ask?? did I upset you in any way?
  17. I was waiting for someone else to strike
  18. sounds like you may have your wires crossed abit. with military swords, red painted written numbers on the nakago are a good pointer toward mass produced non traditional blades. On O-suriage blades, red lacquered writing can be refurred to as a "SHUMEI" which is the name of the smith applied. normally as a post mod appraisal. the other more educated members will expand on my short baby interrupted explanation. pics will really help. but heres 2 bad examples I just grabbed of the net
  19. or ice pick, for thoses vodka martini
