  1. Can you provide more pictures? The kissaki, the Hamon... looks to be a nice sword even though it is suriage.
  2. Yes, and Ed is one of the greatest guy to deal with. I absolutely recommend him.
  3. The Hamon definitely looks like a Chinese Hamon. I’ve seen plenty of them like that. To be honest, they look quite good in hand.

    Katana

Muromachi. Mino or Bizen I think.

    Tourist piece

Looks legit I guess, but I would pass... unless the price was extremely low.
  6. Did you clean the nakago or just the active rust? Because it looks a bit too clean to me.
  7. Yeah, I don’t understand the beating. This is a very nice Koto sword with a very active Hamon. It’s probably not a deal, but not a loss either. Good looking too!
  8. This is so beautiful That is why I love Shinsakuto. You get to see a sword just as it ought to be, as the smith envisioned it and not reshaped over the years. It’s one of the most beautiful thing to behold!
  9. Happy but not surprised. As I said somewhere else, it is a bad time to send anything that has to go through customs. The guys are backlogged and getting stuff on time or at all is hit and miss...
  10. Thank you for letting it go that long, Brian!
  11. Well, Brian, if you think you have to lock the thread, then please do. I have received sufficient support via PM to know that silent people support me. So, if you lock the thread, those people who have expressed their support, thank you, and as requested, I’ll PM you the progress. If anyone wants to follow too, just PM me or go to: https://www.facebook.com/pierluigiponziokatanakaji/ https://www.instagram.com/katana_kaji_japanesesword/ Once again, my purpose was genuinely constructive: help European collectors broaden their choice in terms of polishers and help a new talent emerge. I knew this would cause some unrest and was hoping for more open mindedness from some fellow members, but the world is what it is. No hard feelings I hope, Best to you all, JP
  12. I still believe it’s real but badly damaged. Boshi was massacred, so was nakago. What we’re seeing as a nakago here is actually part of the blade. Poor thing was butchered.
  13. Can you take close ups of the blade itself? Tip, temper line, ...etc. I have a feeling we may have something interesting here. It must have been a very long sword once (the tip of the tang shows the remain of what was possibly the first hole, so long sword, ō-kissaki... very interesting.
  14. Isn’t there too much sori for Nambokucho?
  15. Shape and Hamon are reminiscent of Kiyomaro.
  16. Jacques, we certainly have different definitions for "affordable". Something the price of a good car is certainly not "affordable".
  17. Saiha is something I also thought about but was afraid to mention. I hadn’t noticed the Hamon finishing before the nakago, but the sori looks indeed weird and so deep that the possibility of retempering came to mind. But I didn’t dare say so, 'cause after all, what do I know?
  18. From the USA to France. As far as I can remember, the description I asked for was something along "antique Japanese sword". But I added a lot of papers, COA, full description of content, PayPal invoice, tariff code written on the box and, when available, a link to the original web page for them to have a look at the item. I did everything I could to smooth things up with customs. From memory, shipping was around $90.
  19. Shipped? No! Received? Yes! My last three sword came that way in a matter of days.
  20. Try DHL, at the moment, they seem to be the best to ship parcels throughout the world.
