  1. Hi Kurt it has a punch mark. Did you mean that?
  2. PM later
  3. Hi Bazza Hit me, but i didn't see any wrong? This man was trained in Japan? And he is a traditionell Togishi? I'm wrong?
  4. Shamsy, this is why the price for a "uncleaned" Gunto is much higher than an "shiny" type. And if the Showa-to blade is not in good condition the price goes lower and lower. I learned that lesson.
  5. But Brian, to warn from a person is not a good start to take a research? My opinion. I hope to hear some experience about his work, because he is not so far away from me.
  6. Stephen why you say danger? http://www.bonsai-slovakia.sk/2014-hornak.htm Thank you Klaus for the information about him. It's very good to have a Togishi nearby.
  7. From Ohmuras Website. Type Tachi Metal fittings (pommel, ferrule, throat, the first - the second suspension mount, semegane, chape) The product made from a brass casting. Compared with an army, there was few work absolutely, and the production company was also restricted. Therefore, except for a landing force or the great war last stage, the quality and the gap of a shape like an army Guntō are not. Guard: Product made from a brass casting. Stephen i don't think that this one is a copper tsuba. But who know's? No, i've never seen a regular copper tsuba on a Kai Gunto. And this one is a regular tsuba, i bet.
  8. Look at Ohmuras site. The black of many Tsuba has gone at the mimi. They all was complete deep with black Seppa and Tsuba. But the black has gone and i think that the rubbed then to shining metal for a better look. Thats my personal opinion - not more and i did not say I'm right.
  9. No Stephen i don't think so. The Koshirae is rubbed in my opinion. Look at the kashira the blossoms are all pure copper. Normal it was gold plated, like the ashi, the fuchi, kabutogane and the ishizuke. I saw this rubbed parts at my two Kai Gunto too. When you look with a very good magnifying glass you see maybe goldplating there. But, maybe you are right and this is a downgrade? Do you remember my crew gunto i showed here. The first thing Brian said the copper tsuba is rubbed. I thought that was an individual upgrade. But Brian was right. Maybe the officers on board cleaned often thier swords?
  10. Hello James I can't read this kanji 山吉兵 for yamakichi... Oh i think now i can see it (a little). Thank you.
  11. I think i could read Mizuno xxxx Toyama on this signature. 壬 上 一 山 What you think?
  12. Thanks all for helping me to make a decission. I spare the money and didn't buy it
  13. Beautifull Hamon Ed. Nice sword.
  14. I traded a muromachi period wakizashi with handachi koshirae and fitted with a good looking Tsuba (like Owari) for a package of scum. Now i see every day that box with that pieces of pain. I will never give it away to remember me that I'm a fool.. My advise - don't trust bad photos Hamfish, that Tsuba is lovely indeed.
  15. Thanks Cisco-san Brian i think Jean means it smells like fish (smells bad) What you think now? Gendaito or Showa-to?
  16. I recieved another picture. It is shinogi zukuri. Saya looks like a Kai Gunto Saya in complete black with removed ashi. Maybe sprayed black?
  17. I have only photos. These two pictures are the sharpest one. I know that these smith made gendaito, but he also made showato which are signed by employees. So I'm not sure what it is. For me it looks like hira zukuri. (but I'm also not sure). My feeling to this is showa-to.
  18. Can i ask you if you buy with a later selling aspect or did you buy first because you want it in hands?
  19. The tang is signed Bishu ju mano masayasu kitau kore (when i'm right). Did you think this is shoshimi or nakirishimei? It is hira zukuri forged in a "modern" koshirae with gunto parts. What you think showa-to or gendaito?
  20. Gary congratulations for this trade, but this is not the normality since internet exists.
  21. Yes but it should be in black.
  22. Erwin i had 2 Kai Gunto in my collection well signed Nakago and sold them further. I think that the saya of yours i sprayed black. I dont know what you have paid for the Kai Gunto but it is not worth to spend more money in that Sword. Belive me. Look for a mint Kai Gunto with a good looking same saya and fittings in better condition and a good blade. I sold mine very cheap and it takes one year to sell it. Chris
  23. Nice Sword Brad! I would leave it as it is in the Koshirae and don't polish. Looks perfect in my eyes.
  24. On this picture the first Kanji looks indeed different (junger) and the marks are not the same as the others. I can't say it.
