  1. Unbelivable. From 40.000 Yen in the morning to now 196.000 Yen. For that NCO.
  2. I would search for the masamune in the cellars and attic of old german housings We where Allies Ok, not in the attic. Harris destroyed most of them. Cheers Chris
  3. What is your explanation of machine made? Maybe i had some different understandig. For me traditionell forging include all aspects. From praying and cleaning before begining, up to the last stage of polishing. Machine made can be all. Maybe the most think it is only oil hardening?
  4. There are two terms traditionell and machine made. These cut blades are all indicated as none traditionell made. There are many very nice gunto none traditionell made. For me it is machine made if the smith uses a steam hammer. There is a wide range in that term. These blades are checked, judged and destroyed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aF7X5fxM64k For my opinion machine made Japanese knifes. Are they bad? Of course not. They are great!
  5. Look at the arrows Syd. That looks fine in my eyes. Could we see how the hamon ends?
  6. Some, they made a lot of short gunto for tank crews, pilots and submarine crews. It is not antique. It's a showa to blade. @Dave I can't belive that the goverment destroy important antique blades. In Germany the goverment collect unlicensed weapons and get them in a auction.
  7. Jay they have been destroyed because they are not traditionell made. The last ones could be hand forged, but they all has been judged as non traditionell. Do you collect these parts of trash?
  8. Typ95 NCO in Japan? http://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/c618666558
  9. In the last time i see some fresh polished katana, with new habaki and a new shirasaya for under 2.000 EUR. I remember some month ago you got for 2.000 EUR only old and rusty blades. For example it was unbelivable to grab a polished star stamp gendaito for for 2.500 EUR. Last year you pay for a untouched rusty star stamp in a damaged koshirae more than 1.800 EUR. And now? You got a rare Yasukuni, fresh polished in a perfect koshirae for 3.000 EUR. I can't belive that someone is making a lot of money with such prices. The prices are really down. On other hand i see the prices for NCO Swords and Typ98 are very stable and rise a little bit.
  10. Thank you Joe for the explanation. I learned! Chris
  11. This is a massive, healthy sword in a very good polish and a nice lenght. Look at the old shirasya. Someone take care over a long time on it. Look for a gendaito in such condition and you will pay more then 2200 US-Dollar. This is not a bad deal and why not tokubetsu hozon?
  12. Thanks Grey. Have you some idea about the Tsuba and the Kogai?
  13. I can only estimate the lifetime costs of a Japanese sword from making in ancient times through the generations of collectors to present. How many polish, habakis, koshirae, shira saya have been done? Look in the old auctions price lists. The price for nihonto was much higher than this days.
  14. I bought a katana with an old blade from a member here some times ago. First i thought the koshirae is a new one, maybe showa or younger and the saya is some cheap china thing to put to blade in. Today i made some pictures from the blade in sunlight and after i took the blade back in the Koshirae i see that the saya is handmade with urushi. The Tsuba is also nicely iron made and it seems the rim is gold. The kogai also looks well made. So now i have some doubt about the age of the koshirae.
  15. The quality of these swords is pure and terrible. Look at a nco type95 the quality is much more better. These swords here looks always like kai gunto light. The condition is alwas like new? I didn't think that they ever seen a war. They a products of peace. Thats my thoughts about this swords. Btw. You found a lot of them in Germany. Why? I don't know, but i think many of them are sold from a company called "Frankonia" in the 70's and 80's
  16. There are some generations of kaneyasu. It's is what it is. A nice shinto sword.
  17. Nice Sword, nice Koshirae, nice price. Why not?
  18. Brian whats wrong?
  19. Three ones für true deep red but only two votes
  20. Hi Jean i have one. Maybe this is something for you? sent picture via "BM" (edit: PM)
  21. The tang is important to the sword. And this one looks terrible. The blade is only a metal tsunagi not more. So much money for nothing. Don't buy this.
