Got some pics more today the blade looks old. Not the best pictures, but with photoshop i try to see the shape of the blade. But there are some dark places around the horimono. What you think? Maybe fire damage?

The owner sent me some pictures but not the hole sugata. I try to get more. He said from the tip to habaki the sword is 63 cm. What you think could it be? Maybe we want to go in a trade. But I'm not sure about the signature and the blade, because it is short.

The Kissaki of the Munehiro looks like repaired to me.

For my understanding is this a hoso suguha. From Darcys Website (nihonto.ca) And this is a Ito Suguha From the website of Paplo Kunz (uniquejapan.com) Did you know some swords to look on this very very thin hamon (wich come not from polish) :-) I hope it is ok to link the both pictures as example.

Could me someone explain the difference between Hoso Suguha and Ito Suguha? I actual look for some swords of the Naminohira school and sometimes it is written hoso suguha and others write ito suguha. My understanding ist that ito suguha is a very, very thin suguha (sometimes it seems no hamon visible). And hoso is a small suguha. Is this correct? Did you know some pictures for looking on naminohira school swords to compare the hamon? Thanks Chris

Bruce, Steve thank you for your help I'm very glad now. In backtime i had no interest in buying a Type95. But in Hand it is a wonderfull sword, light and a pure strong weapon. I have the sword now. Here are some, i hope more detailed pictures. The saya has the same number as the blade No.202817. I see a part of a seki stamp on the blade. I can't identify the 2 stamps on the fuchi. The blade is in very good condition. The kissaki has a nice yokote. On the scabbard is a number very fine engraved. It looks like written with a pencil. Maybe it is the identification tag of the soldier?. Edit: I found out that 8 Numbers are the tag of the US Soldiers in WW2. I found under enlistment records the name of a PFC from the USAAF who served in WWII with that Tag. Born 1926, died 2013 (Miramar National Cemetery).

It looks like well forged with double bo and then chromed. For me it looks like a sword for a higher rank.

The blade looks nice. About the coloration. Handle the nakago without gloves and in some years no one cares about the coloration.
