  1. One Kiri Mon tsuba to be sold at auction in the coming days in Paris....
  2. Grey, it is interesting to have fixed a barrier at $ 1000 to distinguish two categories of Kodogu. The market is moving and apparently it seems that in the US under $1000 kodogu are not that valuable (or difficult to be sold) . In France, at auctions, this barrier is more or less the same as Tsuba estimated more or less in a range of € 500/600 are sold above € 1000. Do you think we have reached a point of having a global worldwide market ? Cheers Bruno
  3. Please refer to one example sold at a French auction House in April this year:

  7. Morita San and Curran, Thank you so much for the information. Obviously Shozui/Masayuki being a "big name" I had no doubt on the potential gimei. I'll try to find the paint/scroll from Toshinaka which has inspired this kozuka design. Thank you again Bruno

  11. Thank you Marius for your comments. Can you give me the clues which drive to an late Edo Kozuka? Is it coming from the "fresh" gunome zogan on the fruits, the nanako patern, the shakudo color and texture, others .... ? Thank you any way for you advises which are always very instructive. Best regards Bruno
  12. Hi, I just purchased this Kozuka this week. I guess it could be a shakudo Ko kinko Kozuka which has been repaired end of Edo with an additional silver and sentoku plates. What are you views in this ? Thank you in advance Bruno

    Tsuba Bug.

Denis, Price looks quite in the right range. Just to confirm that shells, abalone or clams theme is not that unusual within the Kinai school, but not the way yours has been designed... Please refer to: http://jameelcentre.ashmolean.org/collection/7/10237/10354 Best regards

  22. Michael, A lot of knives, spoon ans forks sets have been exported from Japan to Europe beginning of 20th century with handles copying both sides kozuka design. These handles are generally in plain Copper or shinchu with no inlays. Should you have pictures, it would confirm.
  23. @ Geraint , it is absolutly true. The shinchu plate is incrustred into a large iron Mimi. This schinchu plate is cut itself to include a HoHo bird in iron. @Brian, Thank you for your so gentle comment. Cheers
  24. Finnally , my promisses after 16 months.... Closer pictures of my tsuba..... Cheers
