  7. Hawleys has a few Toshishige mostly working for the Minamoto clan, mid 1600's to early 1700's
  8. that's a mouth full right there John. The western mind thinks so much different than the east, where as in the West we see things as being build, constructed put together. The East as I see it, see things unfold, evolve, open up like nature. This could be very interesting thread and the thank Reinhard for bringing it up. Please lets not go down the road of "What is Art?".
  9. not sure if its the w stamp, pic are small

  12. think we need to change Nobody to 探偵 , hope i have the right kanji...once more fantastic work Koichi san.
  13. As Dr B stated before, to each his own. I know there's a Japanese word for it when a composition comes together, in the culinary world its umami, this vision lacks it in use of drift wood or worm wood to my eye as it takes away from the metal art, I'm glad so many enjoy.
  14. http://www.zu-ben.com/zuben/swords.htm his swords look like the one in question. Eric I see from your link he has also met with Gassan Sadatoshi
  15. Carlo I understand your point of view, and it wouldn't have to be the saya I suggested. I have had worm holes /tracks on walking stick and none that large, I'm sure there different size worms but smaller ones on this saya might have not taken away from the tosogu.
  16. IMO yes without a doubt, with the chance of this blade being important id go with a top togi...maybe in Nippon. Perhaps a shinsa first to get a feeling on the mei.
  17. how big of a foopa would it be to remove the wood saya and have a new one mounted with the fittings....something like black stone finish...all the worm wood takes away from the brilliance of the metal work IMHO
  18. last few really dont show much in out of state polish. Hamachi is in good shape so not overly polished.
  19. more to come fittings looks like it was added to by someone other than Japanese
  20. No zip files? twelve individual letters Oh Vey!...lol ok here we go
  21. Peter click on the file highlight, remember sometime back...we had a thread on keyhole mekugiana. anyone?
  22. well my last post was a bit tongue in cheek, this is a response from the seller, fishing for info on the blade. He does have some items im sure he bought in Japan, and many that are cast repo's....here's what he said.
  23. T if all else fails you can email them to me and ill post them. reduce, crop and they should post.
