There is no fascinating for me the read about behading with a sword. I wonder if people think about a rifle how it would kill another human? Cutting tests where a cruel quality check for a sword. There is no place for romance.

Give the sword its peace.

Agree, the chances of that are almost nil. Just didn't work like that. Also not practical knowing which part of the sword is the cutting area.
Anyways, disregard the theories and stick to the practical.

I think you went and got romantic on us.

Romancing the sword is a common theme with newbies.

Couldn't help it. My bad  :). Anyway, we have decided to sell this Minamoto.

and is ther not a third blade?

The Third of Three:  Not as interesting perhaps as the first and second. This was a trophy sword won in a kendo tournament circa 1938-1939? It has no writing on Nakago. Hamon seems rather too perfectly symmetric? Could it have been done in some sort of mass production shop? We plan to keep this one as well:

This is an update of No.2 (Motooki) of the three katana discussed in this post. Robert Benson sent it to Shinsa for me, but with the Covid outbreak everything was delayed. Better late than never. Here is the result:

Glad to see that Bob is finally getting some blades back from shinsa. I've been putting off sending anything outside the U.S.

Congrats on the Motooki blade getting Hozon, Ray.

Seems I'm late to this party. All genuine blades and all famous smiths too. Lovely father figure u got there.

I think everyone would also be interested in seeing the first blade if you're having it polished! Nice thread.

The first blade (by Kiyondo) is being restored with new wood saya and tsuka; no completion date yet. It will also be sent to shinsa when restored.
