Swords Posted November 18, 2021 Report Posted November 18, 2021 Hi everyone just want to see if this sword is what it claims and worth buying ? What I heard he’s from New York supposes he polish his swords but not certain hope I hav enough pictures Steve Quote
Ray Singer Posted November 18, 2021 Report Posted November 18, 2021 The sword is described accurately, at least based on what can be seen in the photos. Good gendai smith from the Kongobyoe lineage. Quote
francois2605 Posted November 18, 2021 Report Posted November 18, 2021 Eric Molinier is a super nice french guy from New-York and always very honest when describing items. I consider him one of the most trustworthy sellers of nihonto on eBay. His swords are among the best you can get via eBay. 2 Quote
k morita Posted November 19, 2021 Report Posted November 19, 2021 Hi, His family name is Terada (寺田). Terada Morinobu (寺田盛延) was RJT smith. 1 Quote
Stephen Posted November 19, 2021 Report Posted November 19, 2021 Eric did not say he polish sword...so not sure where you got that from. He's a trusted seller. 1 Quote
Brian Posted November 19, 2021 Report Posted November 19, 2021 Getting confused with Showa22. Eric is a high end dealer. I'm betting he does zero work on his own stuff. 1 Quote
Swords Posted November 19, 2021 Author Report Posted November 19, 2021 I hear different answers about this smith One guy on the forum had a bad experience not sure what why ? Quote
Ray Singer Posted November 19, 2021 Report Posted November 19, 2021 What I can say is that of the decades I have known Eric, seen and spoken with him at shows and seen his swords I have not heard that he has polished him own blades. Everything I have seen of his was in professional polish, new or old restoration. I have a bit of skepticism if that is what has been said (polishing his own swords), but just going off personal experience. Best regards, Ray 5 Quote
Edward Mahle Posted November 20, 2021 Report Posted November 20, 2021 I know I've been following his ebay page for along time now. From what I've seen, always has really nice Nihonto's with decent price tags. Quote

Stephen Posted November 20, 2021 Report Posted November 20, 2021 The more you learn the more you'll appreciate your sword. Have you learned what to call traditionally made world war II swords? Quote

Swords Posted November 20, 2021 Author Report Posted November 20, 2021 Any Japanese sword I honor I accept it as given to me by the smith who owned it and. It’s history I think many people see it a for it’s value but should not be thanks Steve 1 Quote
vajo Posted November 20, 2021 Report Posted November 20, 2021 I try to see how it is made not for its history. Difference between militaria and nihonto. Quote
Brian Posted November 20, 2021 Report Posted November 20, 2021 If you bought from Eric, there will be no bad surprises. It will be as described, healthy and a decent piece. You probably won't get a steal of a purchase, but it will be real and decent, and good value for money. He doesn't mess around with junk. You won't be sorry. Quote
Swords Posted November 20, 2021 Author Report Posted November 20, 2021 I think it’s a person’s preference but I also think its important how it’s made Ok what’s the difference between a lower grade versus a high should have the same amount of folds or layers what determines it the cutting ability strength anistitic characteristics how it looks? I guess in order to tell the difference from an experts opinion I have a lot to learn being a newbie Quote

vajo Posted November 20, 2021 Report Posted November 20, 2021 Steve when you have it in hand watch the blade in a good light from different angles. You will see so much exciting things on your Morinobu. The pictures on the ebay offer didn't show the beauty of the sword. a picture of my morinobu you will be happy. Quote
sword_guy Posted November 20, 2021 Report Posted November 20, 2021 Can you guys please list Eric's ebay username? I am always curious to see other good reliable sellers. Quote
