mareo1912 Posted January 8, 2018 Report Posted January 8, 2018 Hey guys, just finished a project for my tosogu collection. Set includes 12 Boxes (Small Boxes 120x150x50mm, Big ones 250x150x50mm) and the case, everything from paulownia wood. Fitting at the moment eight Tsuba (one Daisho set) two Kozuka and 2 Mitokoromono, so still some place free I also made custom inlays and pillows for every piece which worked astoninglishy fast when being in a good workflow (all together ca. 10 hours with 1-2h for trials). Would be happy about feedback and ideas for improvement, either in material or setup. Kind regards, Marco 10 Quote

ROKUJURO Posted January 8, 2018 Report Posted January 8, 2018 Marco, very nice work, but how do you pull the boxes out? Quote
rkg Posted January 8, 2018 Report Posted January 8, 2018 very cool! Now you just need some labels for the ends so you know what's where (really handy for those of us with CRS) :-) https://www.facebook.com/266005023454853/photos/a.266009073454448.82484.266005023454853/1536611539727522/?type=3&theater FWIW, (as outlined on that page), I've been using this post-it note photo paper which seems to work pretty well and (unlike the other labels the Japanese seem to use), they're easily removed and don't leave a mess when you change things out :-) Best, rkg (Richard George) Quote
mareo1912 Posted January 8, 2018 Author Report Posted January 8, 2018 Thank you for all the positive feedback! Jean, with just the thumbs it is easy to pull out any box, even with very short trimmed fingernails such as mine. Richard, not a bad idea, but I know the places in the closet very well and I do not want to damage the boxes as they were hard to make and fit just in their place. Maybe for the best pieces that I will surely keep I write something on the frontside with ink. Quote
tony edmunds Posted January 9, 2018 Report Posted January 9, 2018 That's very nice work indeed, how of you source the paulownia wood, I've never seen it for sale outside Japan and then rarely. Quote

Japan2112 Posted January 10, 2018 Report Posted January 10, 2018 Very very nice, Marco. The design is great, construction professional and, I would imagine that you will know the exact location of each fitting and guard. Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted January 10, 2018 Report Posted January 10, 2018 Awesome job, that looks so neatly done. Quote
