I hope you enjoy the book and would love to get your subscription on my website for upcoming works and also some Tosogu I showcase from time to time. Also, your feedback, via Mail or PM for example, is highly appreciated to ensure continuous improvement of my work. Best regards, Marco

  7. Hi Everyone, I am happy to announce that I am currently finalizing the next book project with the help of some collector friends. It deals with the Takase school, setting a clear focus on Takase Eiju and several excellent works from his hand. I attach a small preview with some of the included pieces here. The full version contains an extensive mei/kao/stamp/go comparison section and lots of very large and detailed images. I will update info on this on my website and occasionally here as well. As some may have noted, also my website www.tosogu.de has gone through some changes recently, I hope to the better. Any feedback is very welcome. Best regards and a lovely first weekend of the year, Marco Takase_Bookpreview.pdf
  8. Hi, here some Tosogu for the Blade fans! I want to part with a very nice and historic pair of Menuki made by Bungo Taro Motoyuki. These menuki are in Nakago shape and are possibly the last work done by this former swordsmith, ending his career with these Menuki. A highly personal and interesting piece of tosogu that comes in a high quality, custom fitted box. More info below in the images. 1100 Euro for NMB member with worldwide shipping possible. If sold here, donation to the NMB will be made! Best, Marco
  9. Hi Everyone, time to let these nice Mito menuki go that I undigged from my Japan-drawer. Six fish are depicted with 5 different species together with seaweed in the back. All of these are excellent edible fish: In gold red snapper, on the right menuki also flounder and tachiou, a very popular seasonal fish in summer. The left menuki depits also a red snapper, on the bottom a yellowfin thuna and finally, what could likely be a mackerel. The scales are finely carved and the mixed metal inlays well executed. The pins on the back have been removed. Comes in a quality custom-fitted box. 750 Euro.
  10. For starting collecting I would back both the statements of Dale and Fred. The NMB is a resource with many knowledgable collectors that can give you an honest opinion on pieces. Many items that seem 'amazing' or will yield big 'wow' in facebook groups are, with some detailled looking and experience at best mediocre. With Fred Weissberg from Nihonto.com you're certainly in good hands for high end fittings.
  11. Hi Everyone and thank you for the very kind feedback! Lovely to hear the effort is being appreciated @Brian We can gladly do so, I will PM you a link.
  12. Thank you for the kind feedback and the many subscriptions. The first edition is now planned to be released in approximately 2 weeks with seven items, any feedback greatly appreciated
  13. Hi Everyone, based on inquiries and suggestions I am currently preparing a novel format of online catalogue with detailed imagery of new acquisitions (tosogu & nihonto), thematic writeups on pieces and maybe also sometimes items I want to part with. These will come irregularly and maybe a few times per year. An example is already extant (see image), please contact me if interested in the full preview. Feel free to join the newsletter list by going to my mainpage (https://www.tosogu.de/), typing your mail in the newsletter box and I will put you on the anonimous mailing list. Obvious disclaimer: By entering your mail below you agree to receive a mail once in a while with said pdf catalogue, you can unsubscribe anytime by writing me a mail. I will also continue to post some items here, but forums and also pages like facebook greatly limit possibilities with the format and image sizes. This is something I want to overcome, thus the digital catalogue/booklet format. Feel free to contact me with any questions! Best, Marco
  14. Hey Everyone, While I continuously update my site as well as my Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/tosogude/) I want to give a heads up to NMB members that there are quite a few new pieces shown. Feel free to have a look and comment. Hope you enjoy it One novel piece attached here See here: www.tosogu.de Best regards, Marco
  15. Cheers brian, everything done right! It's not a loss at all, especially not considering the ##**#* quality items that were always offered. We should preserve a certain level, both in terms of pieces offered and reputable+fair members.
  16. Thanks for your feedback guys, it really is a beauty! Love your Blade as well Francois!!
  17. Hello Everyone, I want to share a wonderful piece that I finally had the time to photograph and add to my website. It is a beautiful Ichimonji style tachi by Mukansa smith Seto Yoshihiro. The blade was made in 1989 and won the NBTHK chairman's prize in the annual NBTHK swordsmithing competition in 1989, which was an integral part of his promotion to Mukansa in 1996. He studied for a time with Miyari Yukihira and then completed a full apprenticeship with Sumitani Masamine. Some more infos, a video and photos here on my site: https://www.tosogu.de/ichimonji-tachi Also, there is a very interesting interview with him available in the Book on Modern Japanese Swords and Swordsmiths by Kapp. Attached a small part of it, I can only recommend it as a whole, lot of insights into Yoshihiros time as apprentice, what he learned from Masamine and his forging concepts. It is the third blade by this smith I was able to see in hand and while clearly the most impressive one, all of them were beautiful! He still lives near Fukuoka today and produces Nihonto. He is currently the executive director of the Japanese Swordsmiths Association. Best, Marco
  18. Hey guys, today after a while some not too new addition to my collection. More for the Nihonto lovers, maybe I should add it to that section as well... A magnificent tachi in Fukuoka Ichimonji style by Mukansa smith Yoshihiro. The blade won the NBTHK Chairman award in 1989! Please look here for more details (with a bit of scrolling): https://www.tosogu.de/ Best regards, Marco
