  1. Awesome pieces! Is it possible to get a closeup of the fugu?
  2. Hi Curran, something fresh on the market, a very nice package. However, it comes with the corresponding price... https://iidakoendo.com/8858/
  3. Hello guys, reviving my own topic it seems... However, I would love to get some additional informations on the metallurgical structures visible in the attached detail shot. While I have some decent chemistry background, I am not sure if this is about different crystal structures of the alloy or also some patina? Especially the "golden" spots would interest me, for the red ones I think of copper clusters in special structure? Of course it would be best if Ford could jump in on these questions! See whole detailed picture here (be patient, it is 80 MP in size) https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1mkLi055M-0xSTtMHBoDNekyeC56NyM6j?usp=sharing Best, Marco
  4. I found this little guy laying around while cleaning, if somebody needs him, send me a PM
  5. Hello guys, I recently worked on my Tosogu photography and want to share pictures of some pieces in my collection and several I was asked to photograph (and thankfully allowed to partially share here). Please see this link for many more higher resolution images (though not max. resolution due to limited space in Google Drive): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1K0EGb5EDLKof2FLVGmTNOzS7zbWWDkfM?usp=sharing Glad about any feedback to improve the pictures and I hope you like the pieces! Best, Marco
  6. Thank you very much guys and of course thank you Ford for the enlighting information. My guess would've been gilded copper... Towards Ford, would you recommend any restaurational work for the piece? Some of the gilding has also worn off on the backside of the kozuka.
  7. Hello everybody, I have a nice Kozuka with massive and high (6 mm) inlay work. However, I am not quite sure with the material of the inlay. Some underlying material is visible on the peony, maybe you can give me some suggestions. Photos were made by the way, so please excuse some blurriness and dust on the piece. Also had to shrink size for the upload... Higher quality https://drive.google.com/file/d/1alLqxIOsb5YTa4Bz6RoykbPZ24cv35_P/view?usp=sharing Best, Marco
  8. I have dealt with Alex before. It was uncomplicated and the items just as described. Nice stuff here with good prices, can only reccommend!
  9. Hey guys, just started redoing my inventory photos today and took off with this beautiful Tsuba by Ford Hallam. Please note the fine blue/purple shimmering created by one of the patina layers and the vivid mimi. Couldn't resist to share this beauty. Big compliment to Ford! (The pictures lost lots of detail due to size limits on NMB)
  10. Thanks Ford for posting my new favourite Tsuba! (Can relate to the Ape when reading a new scientific publication)
  11. Generelly speaking I like the kozuka, especially the whale-eye and wave work, but the dragon seems somewhat off in terms of execution. Also some condition issues...
  12. I'd jump in on the gimei position as with the previously mentioned points. Adding to Uwe on the signature site of argumentation, the signature looks nothing like any reference I found for Masatsune II.
  13. Hey Peter, I remember very well a sword I viewed last year which had gorgeous Ko-Mino menuki in pine tree design. They were probably worth more than the blade inside, so somehow overkill, but depending on the blade/koshirae worth/period/style, I think fittings should be appropriate in price and one of the other points. IMO, it would remain a weakpoint of the koshirae if I used menuki of low quality. Last menuki I had mounted on an Aikuchi Tanto, some nice Goto Teijo.
  14. Hello guys, I'm looking at the attached part of Tanobe sensei sayagaki. It is for a yamato shizu blade and while I got the parts about length etc. I struggle with this section. Any help highly appreciated and thank you in advance!
  15. Hey guys, one of my pieces up for debate. The Yasuchika mei beside, what do you think about the piece/ what school you think of when seeing it? Bigger pics: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rtysr4l9vhitdc6/AAA9-Eaxv-AfXowz2euKdhnJa?dl=0 Marco
  16. So guys come on, with Brians recent call we need to fill up this boards fuel stock. Tsuba 200€ 50€ go to NMB Table 160 € 60€ go to NMB Bonsai 950€ 100€ to NMB Buy something nice at a good price and do this site a favor (or pay off your duty, however you see it )
  17. Update with some new pictures. Normally I take him in for lunch and when guests are at my home and he sits in a Japanese corner. But I brought him somewhere else to our easter family dinner and he will be sitting at the side as the last years. Just so you don't wonder about all these hearts hanging around haha As most people who work with bonsai know, the pictures do not present him close to his in hands appearance.
  18. Trade for the items accepted. Additional pieces from standard to very high quality availible for upgrading trades.
  19. It's mine, a really nice piece. Texture like silk and interesting to see the stamping, PM if you want some more photos with some details.
  20. Had the Nobuhide in hands last February, it is a nice blade with a wonderful Hamon up close, BUT it has multiple flaws. Several small pinholes over the blade (3-4), one mediocre ware and one massive Hole (5-6mm diameter) above hamachi area. Also the shirasaya is split at the top and the Habaki is slightly big for the wood so it stucks hard. Nevertheless it has a magnificient sugata and hamon.
  21. It really is a beautiful Bonsai, I wouldn't let him go if it wasn't necessary. I checked the juristical situation together with a friend who is a lawyer some time ago, clear result: Two years with all different regulations in an official plant care or the tree will be burnt at US customs (if not shipped back). The whole process, you need to take it out of the dirt into sterilised soil, quite risky for the tree.
  22. Generally certain plants are not allowed to import, exception are bonsais. The point is that insects and harmful microorganism shall not transfer into one country. So a 2 year control is needed with specifications as "in a pot >50cm over ground level" and 3 controls per year by official plant inspector. Also health certificate at customs needed etc. That's just too much for a private person to do
  23. Thanks Luis, I got two inquiries from US already, sadly I cannot export it out of the EU due to plant protection law. That process would take at least two years and cost approximately 600-800 Dollars and I would need to find some professionel with license (And it is a risk for the bonsai). If you need any info or more photos on any of the objects, please ask.
