haroldianwatson Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 Hi There, I am an auctioneer in Canada who has been commissioned to sell this blade. It appears authentic but I have no idea about the age or value and was hoping someone on here might be willing to help give some background information or approximate value if applicable. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Ian W Quote
christianmalterre Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 "approx" "value" is a "moderate" to very low limit. a very mishmash of stilism and work 150-250 $ maybe?- maybe (?) a bit more....? who knows...? nothing serious sorrowly....standard material.... Christian Quote
Brian Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 More. People like naginata and blades made with naginate hi. I bet it goes around $600 or more.Let's see pics of the entire sword and blade?Interesting that it is signed inside the hi (groove) as this is either a shortened naginata or made to look like one. Signature added later? Quote
haroldianwatson Posted September 29, 2017 Author Report Posted September 29, 2017 Sorry guys here is the link to the auction posting with full pictures. http://kwauctions.hibid.com/lot/34991001/genuine-early-Japanese--katana--w--naval-scabbard/?ref=catalog The blade is 28" long and the total length is 38" will add photos above too. Thanks for the info! I have updated my listing now to show the Fuyuhiro name. I just wanted to make sure it was not a $10,000 sword and then go selling it for $300 Quote
lonely panet Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 maybe have a closer look at the tsuba, looks like it might clean up well. not Omari but the waves appear to be stylized after that school. but my guest would be shoami Quote
Surfson Posted September 30, 2017 Report Posted September 30, 2017 I would expect it to fetch $800-1000 including reserve. 1 Quote
