  1. No I think they have now run out of stock. They had 6 copies left earlier today.
  2. Yes I was the person who first acquired it.
  3. Tony, your sword is not Sadayoshi its Sadaroku who is a student of Sadayoshi.
  4. It looks like a Hagire so you want to check this spot out carefully. Hopefully it's not.
  5. Yes they are common, I've had a couple. This one is quite well made as it curves inside to grip into the bohi.
  6. Cost me $60 with Registered airmail shipping (usually as fast as EMS to UK) from CD Japan. They also don't take payment until the book ships.
  7. Yes it has a koshirae, I believe the tsuba has been swapped by a previous owner but the rest of it is original. The tsuka was rewrapped in Japan recently as the old silk was badly rotted.
  8. It is suriage and in a decent old polish but has been rusted by previous owners handling it. It has a wide deep suguha hamon with lots of ko-nie. The jigane is a tight itame which also has lots of nie. It also has a well cut bo-hi that extends into the nakago. It is papered to Echizen kami Nobuyoshi circa Jokyo (1684.
  9. I have a wakizashi with recent papers to Echizen no Kami Nobuyoshi. I will post a couple of photos when I get home from work.
  10. The only option from the post office is parcelforce and you can't insure it. If it goes missing or is damaged there is nothing you can do about it. You should be ok but there is always a risk. You can use a fine art shipper but it wouldn't be worth it on a sword of that value. Also the post office prohibited items leaflet showing a knife has now been removed and replaced with a gun thanks to this guy from Wessex blades.
  11. In the UK it's easy enough to claim back the customs charges if its been wrongly marked. It takes a while to get the money though.
  12. I bought a tassel from the same seller and he sent it via Registered Mail (even though I specifically asked for EMS)....Registered mail often slips through without customs charges in the UK.
  13. It was worse than that I discovered one of my friends had some and I could have had one for free. Which dealer has them listed for $125?
  14. Could find any at that price, so I just bought the eBay one. Although I did manage to get the price down to $250.
  15. I need one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/WWII-Japanese-ARMY-Company-Grade-Golden-Military-Sabre-Sword-Tassel-Rope-/371362210426?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5676e9a27a Any around online cheaper?
  16. The blade is quite possibly WW2 period, I once owned a sword with similar jigane and it was signed Kanenaga (no stamps).
  17. Hi Gwyn, Yes it's my sword, I'm pleased with it, the early type 19 kyu gunto koshirae is in excellent condition for the age. Peter
  18. I managed to get a decent photo of the jigane for anyone interested in what the "Dutch" tetsu looks like.
  19. That's definitely not true with regards to the NTHK-NPO. With Miyano on the panel they have one of the best (if not the best) judge in Japan.
  20. Hi Peter, Thanks, I have seen that one but with old green papers I can't be sure that isn't gimei... Peter
  21. Does anyone have any oshigata of this smiths work so I can compare? I found one in the Toko Taikan but the mei has differences although the mekugi-ana placement matches.
  22. Actually eBay does list them as being based in Japan.
  23. The Microdear cloths from Japan are very thick velvety fibre not like a normal microfibre at all. There is nothing in the UK for sale that is equivalent, if you go on pro camera forums you will see they get constant praise as being the best for lens cleaning. I got mine from Paul Martin several years ago. There's nothing wrong with normal microfibre cloths but microdear just do the job better.
  24. I'm my opinion these are the best microfibre cloths for swords, they really are great I've yet to find anything better. http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00FE7QFHG/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=187205609&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B008QT9B2A&pf_rd_m=AN1VRQENFRJN5&pf_rd_r=1F66PQZBXEGDY9R4EMXY Only problem is they are real pain to get hold of as Amazon Japan won't ship them internationally. There is a camera shop in the US that sells them but they have massively over priced shipping fees to Europe.
  25. Here's a few more Sukesada that all appear to be possible kazu uchi mono. http://iidakoendo.com/718/ http://iidakoendo.com/710/ http://yukodo.net/waki_sukesada.html
