  10. Nice looking sword, out of interest what is the Naval Panther Unit?
  11. The book states swords with star stamps are made from railroad track / puddled steel. It even tries to justify it by showing a close up of the jigane...
  12. Can anyone assist with this surrender label? I think its Medical Captain Hara something... but not 100% Thanks, Peter
  13. No I think they have now run out of stock. They had 6 copies left earlier today.
  14. Yes I was the person who first acquired it.
  15. Tony, your sword is not Sadayoshi its Sadaroku who is a student of Sadayoshi.
  16. It looks like a Hagire so you want to check this spot out carefully. Hopefully it's not.
  17. Yes they are common, I've had a couple. This one is quite well made as it curves inside to grip into the bohi.
  18. Cost me $60 with Registered airmail shipping (usually as fast as EMS to UK) from CD Japan. They also don't take payment until the book ships.
  19. Yes it has a koshirae, I believe the tsuba has been swapped by a previous owner but the rest of it is original. The tsuka was rewrapped in Japan recently as the old silk was badly rotted.
  20. It is suriage and in a decent old polish but has been rusted by previous owners handling it. It has a wide deep suguha hamon with lots of ko-nie. The jigane is a tight itame which also has lots of nie. It also has a well cut bo-hi that extends into the nakago. It is papered to Echizen kami Nobuyoshi circa Jokyo (1684.
  21. I have a wakizashi with recent papers to Echizen no Kami Nobuyoshi. I will post a couple of photos when I get home from work.
  22. The only option from the post office is parcelforce and you can't insure it. If it goes missing or is damaged there is nothing you can do about it. You should be ok but there is always a risk. You can use a fine art shipper but it wouldn't be worth it on a sword of that value. Also the post office prohibited items leaflet showing a knife has now been removed and replaced with a gun thanks to this guy from Wessex blades.
  23. In the UK it's easy enough to claim back the customs charges if its been wrongly marked. It takes a while to get the money though.
