  1. As a side note, the men would be worth the efforts!
  2. Hi Mike, there are some knowledgeable restorers over there in Europe. For example, Dave Thatcher, Robert Soans, Zénon van Damme...etc. They can tell you about the costs for restoration. It is not that often, a quality Muromachi bowl appeared on the market (even if remounted). Everything depends on "your love" and your budget :-) Regards Uwe
  3. Seems to be "Izumi no Kami Kanehisa". But I'm afraid, that doesn't mean much Marius!
  4. Interesting and incredible nice symbiosis between traditional craftsmanship, modern technology and design. I think the price reflects more the idea then the actual value. PS: I've the feeling, that the tsuka of the katana seems a bit too short.....
  5. Hi Chris, I almost bet a box of "Augustiner" that these two cracks are Hagire. Anyway, I know Zénon quite well, if you have some problems to contact him. Although, for this blade, I would recommend S.Wuttke, situated in Berlin!
  6. I think it's definitely not a mon. Rather a stamp representing one or more kanji. Maybe a manufacturers brand?!
  7. First thought it was a "Noren". But after Eric had a closer look, I agree with Dave and Eric. Nice Hata Rob!
  8. Yes Eric, .....lucky day September Kaei seven (1854). Very late Edo
  9. The mogami do seems to be "Myochin ki no Munekata saku". Late Edo! Struggling with right and middle row.....
  10. Great examples folks. Seems we have some true artists in Europe! I know Zénon's work very well, still have some projects pending
  11. Don't know if "Nagamichi" was affiliated with Kaga katchu-shi (the inome, you know...), but the kabuto is undoubtedly high end workmanship!
  12. Great looking side Nick, with nice stuff in stock. Well done!
  13. Rob, In Eric's first example, uketsutsu and gattari serving for fastening the cords. Instead of the agemaki no kan. On later armor's (as Malcolm already stated) the knot was used for adornment.....and preventing the ring to rattle
  14. Nice little exhibition with some good armor's. Note the inside laced shikoro!
  15. Ah, that's the reason why my old "kuro urushi nuri gusoku" appears brown instead!

    Help With Armor

    Indeed, neither Fukuoka nor Edo!

    Help With Kabuto

    Agree with Nick and Eric.
  18. Yep Tom. The "Ott collection". Contained very nice items! High quality and valuable things amongst! Unfortunately at auction (ca. 25% + )
  19. Simon, this helmet is not well executed. The shape leaves some doubts about the Japanese origin. Following the rule: "There is no rule when it comes to Japanese armor", it seems that everything is possible. In this case though, if Japanese, then made in someone's backyard. I tend to claim, not Japanese. Adepted at best!
  20. That reminds me of a do-maru gusoku handed over to H. Dirksen once ( recently sold at an auction in France). Sorry for being off topic....
  21. First time for me also! But it wasn't done yesterday. Those old cheaters.....
