  1. I believe that's a show put on by a dealer. John Grasso of QLD, I don't know if its just himself or others involved. if anyone whats his website Nihonto Australia .com
  2. no, no they wernt. very obvious to spot. its a good learning process for a beginner, learn what you can from it and apply it to your next item. remember its about 'condition', considering military are so young, and easy to access. theres no reason why you cant access good examples of gunto. not waste money on items that hurt your eyes and wallet
  3. it looks very much like those "put togeather " pieces made up of loose fittings from a backyard dealers. it tsukamaki work is beyond poor, and the shows no sign of use, and the tsuka looks so fat and round . Endo Nagamitsu?? I cant see the Mei, just a date. but this smith does have a medium ranking. so you could think of a togi if the blade has merrits
  4. Hi guys, well I have been with the board for many years now, and over this time I have asked for help and have been given advice, I have also made silly comments and overly blunty stated my opinion thus getting my hard earned WARNING POINT. but my main point is to mention how good the sale section on the board is! ok I have sold a few things over the years and happily donate as a thankyou but, I feel I have to mention in point how happy I am with the service of one member. "MARIUS" I have bought from Marius a few times now and every time I have been more then happy, I feel he goes out of his way to neatly package items and its always great value for money. so for those who are still unsure about buying from the Board and still look on Fleabay for a better deal, maybe read this post and have extra confidance with shopping here instead. ESPECALLY WITH MARIUS regards Hamish
  5. 4 weeks and counting. I must admit, I don't get exited often but I am already
  6. I second Steves comment,
  7. I would disagree, if real they paid more then market price. correct me if wrong. disregarding the mei, as the only judging the work

  16. ok, iv never really like these over the top style tsuba, but its killing me to know if they are modern or very late edo?? what do you guys think??? http://www.ebay.com/itm/PAIR-OF-ANTIQUE-Japanese-GILT-DRAGON-DECORATED-IRON-TSUBAS-SIGNED/331989660624?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D39241%26meid%3De160415f9b6b4f50bfcb261bd6152b26%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D331990634934 my apologies to anyone whos secret auction I have spoiled \
  17. sorry, nothing to see in JI at all. I would say some clown with metal polish or fine wet-rub have ruined any chances of seing the hamon/hada aswell as rubbing over the yokate
  18. its a odd little hole, done after the Mei was struck by the look of the burling on the hole. but would it be considered a flaw?

Hi guys well im almost ready to study and collect tsuba (because I cant afford swords anymore) normally I would just buy what I like, but out of interest is there a more common sense approach to helping me learn the schools and linages while I buy? I was just going to look at buying good examples of the schools listed here, except yagu as I think there very overrated anyone got some good advice regards H
  23. ok, I haven't read all the posts but heres my 10centss They are a point of interest on cheap/lower end swords an flaw/damge to quality art swords. like vintage cars, we like them in mint condition, not with stone chips in the paint, but if its a Toyota carolla now one cares
