  1. Greetings all, well out of interest, is there any good books specifically on kinko tsuba? something on or including the Ko Goto, Ko Mino and maybe the lead into the Kyo kinko era. kind regards H
  2. pppwwwwwtttt. they would have done a far better job, with matching the seppa and the correct tsuba. not to mention if they had to make a tsuka and the tsukamaki, they would have gone that one small step to make a new saya.
  3. looks abit put togeather, Kyu gunto saya, with a push putton clip on a shin gunto tsuka but with a early pattern tsuba made to fit a leather retention clip/strap.???
  4. Well to change or wonder slightly from the past 2 posts I have always liked Omori school but never been able to afford them, so at the last DTI I bought this tsuba. not of the same quality but I enjoyed the work. IMHO Late ko-kinko, shakudo is nice and glossy regards H
  5. Generals swords require a silver star on the folding guard and a dragon fly on the pommel
  6. hey guys, I think theres more quality fakes on fleabay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-Samurai-Sword-72mm-Iron-Tsuba-Signed-Iwamoto/152305063527?_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D555012%26algo%3DPW.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20131231084308%26meid%3Dab18ee86ec0a4f8ba618709bf5c451cc%26pid%3D100010%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D262707485518
  7. is that a dude or a dame???
  8. your opening a can of 'Hell Worms' with that comment. to not be trained by a Togi, not trained tradionially in Japan!!! the result will be a watering down of a very historical and traditional art/craft. maybe a Togi should be the one to comment

the shinogi looks very high for a Shinto blade
  10. I believe that's a show put on by a dealer. John Grasso of QLD, I don't know if its just himself or others involved. if anyone whats his website Nihonto Australia .com
  11. no, no they wernt. very obvious to spot. its a good learning process for a beginner, learn what you can from it and apply it to your next item. remember its about 'condition', considering military are so young, and easy to access. theres no reason why you cant access good examples of gunto. not waste money on items that hurt your eyes and wallet
  12. it looks very much like those "put togeather " pieces made up of loose fittings from a backyard dealers. it tsukamaki work is beyond poor, and the shows no sign of use, and the tsuka looks so fat and round . Endo Nagamitsu?? I cant see the Mei, just a date. but this smith does have a medium ranking. so you could think of a togi if the blade has merrits
  13. Hi guys, well I have been with the board for many years now, and over this time I have asked for help and have been given advice, I have also made silly comments and overly blunty stated my opinion thus getting my hard earned WARNING POINT. but my main point is to mention how good the sale section on the board is! ok I have sold a few things over the years and happily donate as a thankyou but, I feel I have to mention in point how happy I am with the service of one member. "MARIUS" I have bought from Marius a few times now and every time I have been more then happy, I feel he goes out of his way to neatly package items and its always great value for money. so for those who are still unsure about buying from the Board and still look on Fleabay for a better deal, maybe read this post and have extra confidance with shopping here instead. ESPECALLY WITH MARIUS regards Hamish
  14. 4 weeks and counting. I must admit, I don't get exited often but I am already
  15. I second Steves comment,
  16. I would disagree, if real they paid more then market price. correct me if wrong. disregarding the mei, as the only judging the work
